I don't believe it - the day I work on my coupe! - its getting battered with hailstones the size of 5p 's! it's on axle stands I can't get it in the garage - will it damage the soft coupe paintwork?? - anyone else had this

I keep reading on the local news about horrific weather in my area. Nothing but a light wind and sun for me!

Forget the paintwork, hail can damage the soft tin they used in the roof, trust me!

I once bought a Seat Ibiza for Mrs Stan years ago, a very tempting deal as I'd never normally buy brand new, but the day it was due to be shipped from Spain it was one of 500 cars hit by hail and severely damaged......she ended up with a 2nd hand Nissan Sunny that handled like a boat and was *not* a happy bunny.......

Not a lot you can do about it though, just cover your eyes and pray to the great designer!

I had to have my Wifes old Stilo in to repair the roof and Bonnet thanks to whopper Hailstones in Coventry a few years ago. That was rapidly followed by further damage thanks to nationwide accident repair centre who our insurers had sent us to (never again).

Friend living in Hinckley (North of Coventry) saying his brand new A4 is now dimpled all over due to massive hailstones. His neighbours greenhouse completely trashed as well

Local radio reporting tiles on houses have been smashed too

Correct - 12 June 2006 IIRC. Hailstones were the size of golf balls but probably a bit harder. The storm lasted less than five minutes, but in that time it completely stripped the leaves from a huge tree outside our office building. Got to the car and it was looking very sorry - I stopped counting the dents after I got to 150

I claimed on the insurance and it went to a bodyshop who did a really poor job. It then took another two grand to put it all right

Nope, hot, hazy and very humid here in the South West. Did have some fairly impressive thunder and lightning in the early hours though.

Seems ok, lasted about 5 mins then turned to rain

Had some heavy hailstones here earlier, then rain and now back to sunny, hot and humid.

The Coupe is also covered in 'dusty rain' spots from last night and today

the same here,started raining this morning then it thundered/lightened and was humid. Only till about 4ish the sun came out..proper random weather lol

Hot and sunny here after rain just after dawn.

Both cars are covered in fine sand from this morning's rain.

Had some rain yesterday and over night which has now cleared.

Warm and sunny at 21C now. A lovely winter's day!

Apparently some people in Hinckley are on the phone to their insurers today, they got it well bad - been hearing reports of it even smashing windscreens & windows! One of my Facebook friends put 'my Audi is totally ruined' & someone posted a pic of a palm-sized hail stone. god what would it have done to a Coupe!

So, it's not all bad news then?

my car was in melton all day but avoided the dents, but 1 mile up the road in asfordby 1000 brand new fords took a pounding most of them will be written off! outside my garage in earl shilton 3 cars are now covered in small dents!

My coupe has been battered, it has approximately 30 dents all over it from hailstones varying in size from ice cube to golf ball size! They were the biggest hailstones I've ever seen. Worst damage is to my bonnet and roof.
Syston, where I am, and Thurmaston in leicestershire seemed to get it pretty bad. Spent most of my time looking at other cars for comparison when out and about!

Feel for you, think that would make me cry seeing that even if it was not my car. See that lethal storm on the box and couldn't believe it was real.

Despite being a scottie, will have to rename her moonie as she is now full of craters!

Dent removal group you say? Nope, not part of it but evidently now need to be!
Trying to be positive and embrace the ' It's only a car' frame of mind and its also better than dwelling on it and being grumpy about it.......many worse things that can go wrong in life I suppose!

Bear in mind that they put little dimples all over golf balls to make them go faster...
