Is anyone else here? It's kind of like the Silverstone classic on steroids with a good measure of the atmosphere of Goodwood revival.

First impressions are excellent, I am sure tomorrow will be even better as I am driving the circuit! Can't wait for that, the only negative point is I have to go steady on the silly juice tonight!

Just having a beer while watching the old 20's-30's cars go down the mulsanne! Fantastic!!!

X - my sister left last night with her other half - They are in a slightly dishevelled 4.2 XJ Coupe circa '78 in that BL flat mid-blue. Keep your eye out for them - it only had its 3rd engine change on Thursday in the last year and this will be its first run!

I'm staying in a hotel on the 2nd mulsanne chicane, the night practice last night with the 917s and now the race in wet conditions has been fantastic so far!

I got 4 laps on track today too, that mulsanne straight is awesome! Those Zonda F's are Bleedin quick, no hope of staying with him round the lap! laugh

Gilbo is around but I keep missing him, I will look out for the jaaaaag though.

Just got back after a great weekend over at Le Mans.

Really lucky with the weather, a few monsoon style downpours on Saturday didn't manage to spoil such an amazing event.

Even luckier that our car behaved its self faultlessly for the entire trip! Loads of pictures to sort through and a blog to update, will get the links up once I've caught up on some sleep!

Very envious! The weather here was censored (apart from the 2hrs where Lewis and Jensen wanted it to rain). Can't wait to see the pics; never been to Le Mans. One of the things I want to do before I die (along with Monaco and Monza ). At my age I'd better get a move on..........

Just recovering after 5 hectic days in France. The Classic was great fun with some incredible cars on show and racing. The weather could have been kinder, however at least the monsoon like downpours were punctuated with brilliant sunshine. I drove the Coupe all the way from Newbury to Le Mans and back without a hitch, about 1100 miles including numerous off piste trips to a collection of bizarre restaurants. The Coupe was in good company as we travelled alongside some friends in their Ferrari GTS 328...here we are in the car park with me wandering whether all that time waxing and polishing the car had really been worth it...

And here's one of the Le Mans style starts for 1962-1965 cars...

Sorry not to have met up with any other Coupes, we really do seem to be a diminishing sight on the roads.

Looking forward to seeing some other's photos smile

Gutted! The friends we were with had just sold their beloved yellow 16vt after an MOT failure and a very expensive suggested repair bill, N245 SAV (if anyone knows it's whereabouts now?).

Sorry to have missed you too smile

I keep saying that I will go to Le Mans at some point. I reckon the classic looks more fun to me.

Off to Silverstone classic in a few weeks - yipee!

Is the Classic less boisterous than the regular Le Mans? I found the regular event a bit OTT. We had a good time but I would never go again frown

Oh I also understand Antony (Boosted7) went too, so there were at least five of you there cool

The classic is a world apart from the normal Le Mans. The campsites are full of all sorts of classic and sport cars, not the van loads full of stag do's with sound systems to rival Glastonbury.

Obviously there is a little bit of 1920's mischief laugh

You can also get up close to the cars, much like you can at Silverstone and Goodwood classic meetings, and chat to the owners/drivers/mechanics.

I have been to 20 Le Mans, but I enjoyed this, my first trip to the classic so much more than I have enjoyed the recent "proper" ones. I was just about walking/talking when the youngest car racing first rocked up at Le Mans, I would love to see them extend the field to allow the Group C's though cool

This was how close we were to the track at the back of the car park of our hotel on the Mulsanne, seeing the GT40's and 917's go past at full chat was awesome! If I can work out how to post a video.... confused laugh

Not a posh hotel either, you can tell this by the budget drink holders laugh

Sat in the pits just before a few laps giving passenger rides to the VIP's... No pace car! cool driving laugh

Listening to a very well informed speach from the 1962 class winning driver Richard Shepherd Baron, alongside Charles Morgan. With the car, TOK 258 fresh from the Grid 4 race just a few feet behind us

Some great pictures in there, nice to see a different perspective.

Your hotel was in a great spot - we had to make do with camping, though this time we decided to go for the site thats slightly further away from the pits, bit more civilised with the facilities and you can spread out as much as you want.

Some pictures...

Car we decided to go in and raise a few quid for the Midlands Air Ambulance along the way.

Sunset at the docks was pretty special, and the best weather we'd see until back in the UK.

We counted about 10 Ferrari 250 GTOs out on the parade lap, very impressive. They just kept appearing at Porsche curves, couldn't quite believe what you were seeing.

This Bentley was on the ferry back with us, nice to see it being driven to and from the event as well as on track!

Thanks for the glowing report and fantastic pics, I am now seriously considering this for next year. Is it a busy as the normal le-mans, in that you have to book early to even get tickets for the campsites etc?

Not as busy as the main event by any stretch, popular things do get booked up though so best to get booked in early.

The paddock passed allegedly sold out but then another 2000 were available to buy on Saturday morning on the door.

It's only currently on every other year though so you'll have to wait until 2014!
