I swear I’ve just been touched by god (not that I truly believe in god, but if there is a good I owe him a pint). I had just fitted my 3G front discs & shims and was filthy. So I went and had a quick shower before going to Halfruds to get a new sponge (to clean the Coupe with, not myself). I jumped straight into the Coupe and headed off . My road is a quiet road but leads out onto a very busy road. I was approaching the give way to the main road at about 20mph, I went to brake and my foot hit the floor . ‘ FCCUK!!!! ’ I’d forgot to pump the brakes . I wrenched the hand brake up but all that did was lock up the rear wheels. So now everybody body turns round to look at me ‘The Tit’ making a lot of noise heading for an inevitable crash. But nothing happened, I made it to the other side of the road, stopped dead and there wasn’t a car in sight . I couldn’t believe my luck. I sat there for a few seconds, wiping the sweet from my brow still pumping the brakes to get some life and still no one passed me. The pressure was back and away I went. I’ve literally just got back and thought I should share my moment with you.

So have any of you done something stupid like that? Have you ever witnessed a miracle? Am I the biggest prat on the planet for not checking the breaks!?

Did something similar in my MR2 - but only got the end of my small road so no major speeds.

Changed my missus brakes on her 206 a while back and a few weeks later she said they were a bit funny and lacking real bite. I took the car out and then later bleed the brakes, back out again and it seemed perfect. Took it out 10 minutes later and the brakes barely worked - turned out to be a rear drum was leaking. Good job I spotted it before I took it any further.

It'd have to be sticky. A toffee perhaps?

Got hit by an huge earth moving lorry at 50-60mph in my first coop, completely squashing flat the whole drivers side of the car..... The impact threw me over to the other side of the car mostly, got out and walked away with just cuts and bruises, Traffic police and Ambulance could not believe how I got out without serious injury / death. The only witness was a vicar, who prayed as he saw the accident. Although not a believer, I thanked him for his prayers

The bit I find most amazing, is that your handbrake can lock the rear wheels.....truely amazing for the coop

The most stupid thing I did was when I owned a Mini (apart from buying it in the first place!). I was at my parents house , and had worked all evening to change the head gasket. It was nearly dark , so had opened the up and over garage door and pushed the nose of the car into the garage, where there was more light to work from.

I finished the job, closed the bonnet, and went to go inside through the front door. That was when I pulled the garage door down onto the bonnet......doh! I never got rid of the dent...
