We were due to spend this weekend with my folks in Sheff. but my Dad has had to go into hospital unexpectedly and my mum has a pre-arranged treatment session, so we can't stay with them. We still really want to go to offer support, but we need accommodation. Anyone have any recommendations?
Many thanks,

Jim

Thanks RK. I don't think it's terribly serious, but he's 77 and still a LibDem activist, so he can't be completely right.

The Psalter is apparently very cheap and quite nice, plus in a nice leafy part of town as opposed to the usual city centre places.

I have heard good reports about this too, I have had a drink or two in there and it has a nice atmosphere, the food isnt too bad for what it is and the rooms are all recently refurbed.
You might also get a deal out of them if you are there for a few nights too.

As Jim3 says, the area is pretty good too, I think the rates are about £55 per night, to beat that, you would have to stay in a bad area or book a travel lodge a few weeks in advance, and the travel lodge is not in the best of areas tbh.

Hope your Dad gets well soon.

Bugger, wish I'd thought of the Psalter. Was a decent pub back in the day too, in its Tavern days.
Still, I ended up getting a decent deal at the Jurys Inn in the city centre. £117/night for 5 people in 2 rooms. Can't remember the last time I was in Sheff city centre at night!
Looking forward to the visit and hopefully seeing the folks in better spirits.

We've booked the kids an hour's bouldering lessons at one of the climbing centres - should be fun!
