Does anyone kow with certainty that the 76 trim turbine wheel and shaft fits in our tb28s? (machined housing of course)
Or is there another journal bearing shaft and turbine that is 76 trim and is used in conjunction with the 62 trim compressor wheel.

the combination of 62trim compressor wheel and 76trim turbine wheel is the same as a gt28rs and they definately fit with the appropriate machining

it is commonly referred to as a stage 3 hybrid and there are lots of folk running them on here

i have been informed by a turbo place offering hybrids on this forum that there are different turbine shafts for ball bearing and journal bearing turbos so the gt28 turbine and shaft wont fit in the fiat core!!! so confused as what to buy.. anyone know for sure??

the turbo shop i have been in contact with is turbodynamics in the UK. they also put a far larger compressor wheel in teh fiat compressor cover than the 62 trim most people think is the largest. they use a GT32 48 trim wheel. 71mm!! instead of the 62 trims 60mm

i am not sure that putting that size of wheel in a hybrid is the best thing to do to be honest as it's bigger, heavier and the flow of it will be hugely restricted by the 0.49a/r turbine housing

it's up to you of course but the 62trim wheel from the stage 3 hybrids is about the biggest i would go on a hybrid, the turbine shaft and wheel looks as if its from the pulsar gti-r although the wheel itself is the same as that of a gt28rs

the below is a reply from Matt from Turbo Dynamics in response to queries about prices for hybrids

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the delayed reply, we had some staff absences recently and haven't had a chance to get on here! All pms have now been answered, apologies for the delayed reply.

2) as above but with 62trim 60mm (gt28rs) compressor wheel

3) 62trim compressor wheel and larger 76trim turbine wheel, (both wheels from gt28rs) again with uprated seals

As is the nature of these rebuild prices they can fluctuate slightly depending upon the condition of the turbo sent in for the work to be carried out but below is the prices if the unit sent in is in good condition with no major issues:

1) 60 trim compressor wheel, 360 thrust kit & stagger gap turbine end piston ring - £350.00 + vat

2) 62 trim compressor wheel, 360 thrust kit & stagger gap turbine end piston ring - £350.00 + vat

3) As above but with the Pulsar T28 shaft and modified housing to suit - £475.00 + vat

yeah i think the gt32 wheel is too big.. ill stick with the 62 trim. ive also found out that the 76 trim turbine and shaft from the GT28RS CANNOT be used in our core. the shaft is smaller due to the ball bearing being pressed onto it.
however garret do the same shaft and turbine but in JOURNAL bearing spec!! they are just hard to find!
turbo dynamics dont offer the 76 trim on their website or when i contacted them. the t28 pulsar turbine mentioned above is a 79 trim so a little larger again.
