As some of you know here I am very opinionated, and open.

The thread was based on a 'diet' the paleo diet which I asked for proof of results. I myslef dont diet as gym etc i have no need.

So I started to ask for proof about it the woman kept posting info about it from the creators website with a small 10 page pdf with most data i could get from your local supermarket.

What i asked for was bood work done on this over a decent go at it. As this is more than a diet its a for life fitness plan. I posted up blood work on a guy 8 months in with worse results before he had started however he did loose some weight as you would.

I never verbally abused anyone but did recieve it in return. I only joined the forum in question as my car at the time the 360bhp coop was causing a stir.

Am I in the wrong or are they all brainwashed and clique bunch of people?

If you have time to view thanks I dont think i comment untill page 6 or 7

http://www.strathycruise.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=119855

Thanks

I tried, and got bored very quickly. It was painful to read.

I did see some of your posts. I think you went wrong by opening with "you're wrong". You just managed to get people's backs up with the advice, nobody likes to be told they're wrong.

I wouldn't worry too much smile.

when people are wrong the herd follow this plan the woman had. Rather than get yourlself to the the gym for real health change not a generic diet or as she dubbed it 'lifestyle' plan.

And I get banned a little harsh I feel, the idiots didnt even rate coupes untill my gt28rsr came along causing the longest thread in the history of the forum lol.

Can't read the thread as you have to be a member.

Judging by the site name, 'Strathy Cruise' doesn't sound the best place to have an intellectual debate!

I'm interested in the Paleo diet, but haven't tried it. I do eat more fruit and nuts than I used to, and have replaced crisps and cakes with them to help lose weight and be healthier. I think the theory behind Paleo is that humans ate certain foods over a period of a couple of million years, and that modern farming has only been around 10,000 years or so, meaning our bodies are more adapted to the food we ate during that 2 million year period, rather than modern foods.

I'd like to see evidence it works. A mate was telling me his workmate went on the Paleo diet and then became quite ill, although the diet hasn't been identified as the cause yet.

I wasnt saying you wouldnt loose some weight. The point was it was as good as going to the gym if not better.

I provided one guys testiomnal with bloods showing worse health than before the 8month diet. Which itself isnt proof as its not a case study. She kept directing me the sellers site.

Either:

a) They were right in banning you

b) They weren't in which case would you want to have any further involvement in a forum that makes such ridiculous decisions.

No worries either way.

By the way, you did verbally abuse others. You just don't see it because subconsciously or not you are wanting to feel like the party more sinned against than sinning. When I say something about you it's justifiable as it's in jest or has some basis in truth. When you say it about me it's abuse.

That's how you see it.

No doubt others would similarly justify their comments towards you and (not having your perspective) could see your comments as not being on the border but having crossed it.

Just my personal observation here Mr bgt1759, but i've just had a look back over some of your posts on this forum and you can come across as somewhat arrogant and agressive. Perhaps the folk on the other forum were just a tad less tolerant of this.

The average IQ at the forum isnt to the same level as FCCUK apart from a couple of guys.

Honeslty look at the thread jimbob was i name calling and promoting something that i semi proved to be bad for you?

I get banned 'cause im not in their crew'

Its weird that this forum is where I spend most time despite not even having a coupe anymore?

Can we change the forum to Integra DC5 forum whens you convert as for me its the answer lol only kidn

I said my diet is cack but i need to eat high calories to gain, i get all my protein & vitamins via shakes.

Fact remains though im not eating enough over 4000calories pd is tough, to get passed 13.5 stone eating more than i would already is hard to do.

By telling people the facts rather than this caveman diet they are all on a generic one simply for weight loss will work but its a fad just like the 100's of others.

I only really need to watch my liver results and bad chol and burn the rest as changing from catabolic to anabolic status is key in health in my op.

Your approach is all wrong. I sailed past 13.5 stone by using the Stella diet. Unfortunately coming off it doesn't seem to have the opposite effect frown

I don't think you came across very well there to be fair Johnny. You made some good points, and then also at times were rude and didn't seem to read what others had written. Admittadly most the posters there also did the same when it came to yours posts. You did come across as a meat head who knows better than others.

Im hardly a meat head as a large % of my training is cardio based. I was the only one who provided data to support my claim. Not a pdf telling me how many calories are in a apple.

I was only being rude in response to wrong info or comments made to me, thats fair in my book. The woman mariad was almost acting like a sales woman for it.

Sorry, but that's pretty much on a par with my 4 year old neices "he hit me back first" defence. laugh

I'm sure that in person, you would be a nice guy to have a discussion with,
but for your own happiness online at least, the key is to avoid escalating situations.

Jonnybgt1759, you asked a question and asked for people's opinions. You got them. Saying you are coming across as a meat head is not the same as saying you are a meat head. This thread is kind of proving the opposite point I get the feeling you were wanting to make. If you are only interested in justifying yourself rather than genuinely wanting people's opinions then this thread is a bit of a waste of bandwidth.

Yeah, give advice and if they pay no attention be quiet until they post up their results. Like most things, as on here, if things get prodded and poked it doesn't take long for someone to get there arse out and sulk* - besides it's always good to laugh at someone who ignores sound advice.

*this is not aimed at anybody or any particullar event, just a general comment about starting a debate on line and the complete mix of people, stand points and life experiances you get on an internet. smile

Jonny you give me the impression that it's really important for you to correct things which seem to you to be plainly wrong, and perhaps you do this because wrong information is such a waste of time and effort. I've got no problem with that as an ethos, it being the sort of thing I aspire to when learning and performing music on the piano.

The old phrase along the lines of "not being able to please all of the people all of the time" has has something in it here, and however right you may be doesn't necessarily allow for how other folk are feeling at the time you post [in bad books with spouse, lost job, toothache, coupe repair bill etc]

You may have the right to say how you feel about a subject at any given time, so have they - especially if they take it the wrong way. Folk don't actually like being told "you're wrong" or "rubbish" - just say you don't agree, keep the lid on the confrontational words. There's more likelihood of getting reasoned argument in return as you have in some threads on this forum in the past.

I for one admire your endless tenacity when pushing a point which you are clearly convinced about and have enjoyed the education which it invariably results in. It wouldn't inspire me to comment on say piano stuff [unlikely I know] if you were simply answering with negatives. I'm pretty tolerant but the other forum may be less so.

What they were talking about was a 'fad' diet generic which will work if they stick to it very closely. As i pointed out it came last in a peer review of diets with the main reason of not sticking to it.

My point was fad diets come and go and offer weight loss which in my opinion is wrong.

You are starving your body of what it wants in a catabolic state. After some time in the gym with setting higher targets will change you to an anabolic state which then burns more and wants to build muscle. Then add a balanced diet into your training/goal.

The fad diet will keep you catabolic you will loose fat& muscle and be a rake.

By the way im not a Personal trainer just a little fitted cardio wise than the ones at my gym.

My reference to weakness on weights is true its no where near my cardio but still not to bad bench 80kg, 90kg with spot.

I dont know what to define my training as ? Im not a dedicated runner or weightlifter.

Well while we're on diets, can I spout some pseudo science of my own?

I reckon beer makes you strong. I read a '50s book about how yeast and B vitamins and a load of other stuff helps you to metabolise.

Booze was a proven performance enhancer in the older Tour de Frances

To further prove my point I did a study of 5 of us on the way back to the pub, and they were unanimous that they'd found a particular hill on the way home easier than they had without the benefit of beer.

So now all I need to do is to pay a scientist to prove my point, get some "warm" forum members to evangelise about it, and buy up all the available stocks of West Berks "Good Old Boy". smile
