I've swapped my insurance over to the Coupe now, with my current insurer, Privilege. But I need to renew within a month, and have been shopping ... Admiral have provided the best quote so far. [ 23 yrs; driving since 1999; 6 yrs ncb; no accidents/convictions; living with partner; no kids; parked in residential parking area in Hertforshire address, etc]. £780 full comp; with protected ncb and £500 excess. And that was a quote for a Plus, which I didn't buy in the end. I gather they're dearer to insure by about 20%. Actual car is a '98 20vt; No mods. Does anyone think I can top this quote elsewhere? Or does anyone have a view on Admiral, from their own experience - good or bad? I've filled in quotes for both Greenlight, and Noel Dazely, but for some reason heard back from neither. I'm not inclined to phone them to find out, as this, to me, is an early (bad) reflection of their customer service

Got some quotes yesterday and Elephant, owned by Admiral, was £20-odd cheaper.

I recently changed from Privilege to Admiral. For me, old git, Admiral were far cheaper. What was interesting, and I never realised before, was that by putting my wife on policy (lower risk) it actually brought down the cost of cover. I also listed the car as modded (even though standard at time) and it added very little extra - seemed less hassle to arrange this from outset rather than 'negotiate' and pay admin fees to change later.

As stated above, put a female on your policy and see the price plummet. Just hook a random one from the street, get her details and save your pennies Another idea is to try and bat Bell Direct, Admiral and Elephant all off each other. They may all be underwritten by Admiral but will beat each others quotes..

Inspired by this post, I've just added my wife to the policy (didn't bother when I opened it, as she hadn't driven my last car in 4 years). Been meaning to do it for ages, and I should have done it sooner as its saved me £80 per year...
Thanks for the kick up the backside Stu

Agree with the Elephant comment. I've found them cheapest by far, in fact a couple of hundred cheaper than Admiral. And the policy is EXACTLY the same as the Admiral policy.
I aslo found that adding one (but not both) of my parents brought the price down. Didn't make a difference whether they were male or female.

Elephant, Bell Admiral - all sister companies, cover is pretty much the same (if not exactly the same!) StuP has the righ idea with playing them off against each other - I've been with Admiral for 3 years (I think) and every year they will beat any lower quote from Elephant/Bell The amusing thing is that all 3 of them are £000's cheaper then any other insurer (Manchester postcode ) Admiral have been excellent, though never had to make a calim and my car is standard, so I dont know what they would be like for mods
It is hard to understand how a cemetery can raise burial rates and blame it on the cost of living

Admiral didn't seem keen on mods, but bell was fine, just click all the boxes. I got a quote from bell which i was happy with and then rang up admiral as i was insured with them upto the renewal notice. They then price matched Bell with the mods. It's a bit of a pain to search around and ring them up but I'm not giving up my hard earn't cash that easy.
Wifes with admiral and made a claim a couple of years ago. Not her fault and they were quite good. We've stayed with them.

Elephant were excellent with my accidient last year, paid out very quickly...possibly down to the fact that there were no 3rd party insurers involved as the other party wasn't insured They did however want daft money to insure my new coupe, so I went with Noel Dazely who were at least a hundred less (and the punto is with ND too)

I'm just currently on the hunt for cheaper insurance, Admiral quoted me £764 Bell £792 and Elephant £763, then phoned Noel Dazely quoted me £608 was just about to think that was good and decide to go with them, then I tried moneysupermarket.com and have got a quote from Sainsburys bank at £502 with another 5% discount if paying with a Sainsburys credit card - bring it on! Noel Dazely ringing back soon so going to tell them, you never know they may try and better it, can but try, think I'm quite enjoying this!!!
