Found them inside a coupe dash and don't have any idea what they are or what they do, other than guessing they're something to to with audio.

Anyone?

Yep, cross overs. Part of a component set, midrange and tweeter with a cross over to split the frequencies between the two.

From the Alpine Archives, the symbol seems to imply it's a subwoofer add-on splitter/amp from the SWR-nnnn series. See:

The Type R range covers various speakers and subwoofers. The above pic is deffo a component speaker crossover (sorry Mario!) laugh
