Hi all

I am looking for a nice hotel to take my wife away for a long weekend, this will be strictly no babies allowed, kind of have in my mind a 4 poster bed, champagne breakfast in bed, maybe a spa, etc, etc

Not looking to drive miles away, so am thinking the Shires, Bath, Cotswolds, Southern UK, maybe even London..

If you go on google and just type in luxury hotel, it seems to delete the word luxury and just give you any old hotel it sees fit?!

Anyone got any recommendations?

Thanks y'all thumb

Hi Jim,

There's an old thread on here - check shabba's posts and search against "hotels" in anything else.

Found it:

I've got a couple of places you might like - I'll give you a call about them.

Jim,

I've started doing some sports car (porsche, merc, aston, lambo) plus hotel breaks for weekends away, and got a lovely one coming up in Christchurch on the river. Also got a couple love already just outside of Bath, here n Wiltshire.

If you're interested let me know and I'll point you to my website

Cheers, Mark

Jimo,

I just got back from a really nice weekend in bath a few days ago. Me and the misses stayed in http://www.dukesbath.co.uk/ i booked one of the 4 poster suites. It was a nice hotel and not bad for the money....

However
If you want to go all out there is only one hotel to stay in, in bath, she will love you for it wink

http://www.royalcrescent.co.uk/
You also get access to the therma spa...

As a wildcard, jump on a short 45 min flight and go to jersey. Just got back from there a few weeks ago, enjoy the last of the sun http://www.theroyalyacht.com/

Blimey TV, you get me all excited and I think that's it, I have found it, I then look at the price!!

We are married, I don't need to impress her that much anymore!

You never said how much you wanted to spend tongue It really is beautiful though. I had the most amazing 5 days there, but then again it was my honeymoon, so the price was less of an issue.

Also I'm wondering if you saw the prices fr hiring out the whole place. They like to hire it all out in one go when they can, so maybe you saw those prices.

Look at the link below for individual rooms.

http://www.celticcastles.com/castles/bath-lodge-castle/tariff.aspx

You will need to ring and book to find what weekends they are doing as B&B days rather than group booking days.

Aha, that makes more sense and doesn't make my wallet have a seizure, when you said you had been there for 5 days - I thought "bloody hell I need to change profession!"

Contacted them by email, but will try and call later to see what availability they have for a weekend away smile

I know it's too late but this is also a cracker of a place I've stayed at. The breakfasts are divine too!

Well just got back from Bath and the Bath Castle Lodge and can honestly say it was absolutely fantastic smile

So a great big thanks to TV, beers on me next time we catch up (and congrats on your news too)

It was perfect, a lovely hotel, loevly rooms, the guys in charge couldn't have been more helpful, beautiful grounds, great hottub, I could go on...

If anyone wants a romantic weekend away, this would be top of my recommendations.
Only downsides are:
Its a long way from Bath, £20 in a cab, but we knew this so not too much to worry about
Its close to the A36 so can be noisy, but our room was at the back, so again no major issues
