I have just seen this on the 6 o'clock news.

They made Manchester sound like a very dangerous gun and light explosive filled slum.

The murder by the chief suspect of a young man, then his father shortly afterwards in an incident involving guns and grenades?

Either I am blissfully unaware or things are worse in this area than I thought?

Did you make that up yourself or cut and paste it from kneejerk.com? He was not on bail, he was the subject of a manhunt for those other murders.

Back on topic, it appears that Cregan was indeed on bail.
I think Norman Tebbit is more in line for the kneejerk.com award. Although I suppose it should really go to the media for even asking the old ghoul to open his mouth.

My deleted post referred to an earlier report on the news which Azzura either didn't hear, or didn't understand. I may be mistaken at times, my opinions may not be palatable to some, but I don't invent facts.

That's really sad, especially as one was in the middle of planning her wedding.

How are people managing to get hold of grenades?? Mental.

Yes, but he was on police bail, which meant that the police had released him because there wasn't enough evidence to charge him.

Are you advocating that the police have the power to hold somebody indefinitely without charge if they think they're a wrong 'un?

Dear monos, a secret truth.

I think the issue here is that it appears he was released on bail then disappeared and more people started to die...

How hard is it to find somebody? £50k and over 100 officers they claim and they never got more than CCTV of him blowing more stuff up and another dead body.

If they didn't have the evidence at the time then they had to bail him, simple as. But I would of thought his character didn't suddenly become deranged after he was bailed. I would be surprised if there were not signs or he hadn't done something smaller before.

How he is laying his hands on grenades is another matter, firearms appear to be easy to locate but grenades is a new one on me.

That wasn't the point of my post, I stated he was on bail at the time of the shootings and was erroneously informed he wasn't.

As I'm firmly in the camp that human rights should take second place to the public good, there is absolutely no point in me debating your question. I'll let the usual suspects do that smile

And selling them on is also an old tradition...

Could be they were homemade?

I'm sorry, the usual suspects are unavailable for debate as they have been apprehended and are currently being held indefinitely.

I have to apologise for the error in which my first post was phrased, which will teach me to try to do two things at once when one of them is working late to catch up!

What I meant was that he had not been released on bail for murdering the son, he had not been charged with anything when released on police bail and indeed the police appear to accept that that he was in fact abroad at the time that murder happened.

It was the inference that yet again the wishywashy liberal dogooders of the criminal justice system are to blame for the murder of the two police officers because he was on bail "for murder" that I was reacting to.

Human rights are the public good, what you're suggesting is that they should take second place to individual good, i.e. detaining some people without charge may avoid some individuals being murdered, but at massive detriment to everybody.

Deleted. Nearly drawn into the debate I promised not to get involved in smile

As if the situation wasn't bad enough, the Home Secretary has apparently abandoned her holiday to visit the scene. I'm sure she'll be very welome. rolleyes
