Hi all,

new post since my last enquiry about D2's, the car is theoretically ready for 4 wheel alignment after installation of D2's, 22mm Whiteline, trailing arm repair kit, solid rear bushes, track rod ends etc.

However I just found there's a play in both wishbone ball joints (NB got them as OEM and polybushed not even a year ago - must be Aberdeen roads:-)).

Now, what do people think about aftermarket wishbones, I've heard stories about poor quality and also differences in particular dimensions, however I don't feel like I'm going to get an expensive Fiat arms and polybush them every year (job is a PITA)?

Cheers,
Artur

A year sounds pretty quick for OE wishbone ball joints to go but I guess if you stiffen up the bushes with polyurethane then that energy has to be transferred to the next weakest point in line.

Yeah, you might be right, ball joints are becoming the weakest point, thing is it would be far easier if we could change the ball joints and not the whole arm, especially if it's getting polybushed, now I wonder if I go Powerflex way any more since the ball joints fail so quickly.

Don't use aftermarket wishbones - they simply aren't up to the job

I've had polybushed wishbones for the last seven or eight years and I've only just gone through my second pair of arms (circa 25,000 miles a year)

That's a good result, Nigel.

I got mines as OEM from AA last year and the ball joints are gone.
Well, I'll give them one more try as I need to finish off my suspension next week.

Cheers guys.
