I have another question concerning the 2.4 Abarth engine.
Is it possible to use a standard Stilo-head in combination with a 2.0 20Valve turbo block? Of course you have to change the camshafts, but are the exhaust valves good enough to cope the extra heat? Are there still other things you have to change or modifie?

You can use one but the valves would have to be changed due to the heat.

Myself and knight7660 have looked at the stilo block and head against the 2.0l for getting ready for the builds next year.

But is there any other difference between the heads, except for the material and the size of the valves and ports?
I don't have to cut or drill in the head?

The 2.4ltr and the 2ltr head are exactly the same other then as you say the valves, no adaption will be needed so it'll bolt straight on.

Thanks
I had a talk with the local engine-workshop and it seems that the material of the exhaust valves from a 2.4 and a 2.0 20V engine are the same. The 20V n/a has different material.
greets

I think the valves are different material for the Na 2.4
Will check this.

You will need custom exhaust valves for a turbo application i.e. single piece inconel.

Just checked and Barbz supplies these valves off the shelf.

Pm him if you need them.

does the big valve head from the 2.4 not cause a slight loss of low down torque, just something to bear in mind if its true, but i may be talking rubbish there, wouldn't be the first time laugh

just something to bear in mind as from another post from Bart he seems to be wanting lots of low end torque hence running the gt28rs on a 2.4

Yes it does and also the head on its own causes a running fault on boost as I found out and had to remove the head again.
We actually the engine.
If you look at the turbo head and the n/a you'll see the problems.

Can you be more specific? Is it something you can solve? Do you mean that the combustion chambers are different?

I gave mine to Barbz and he sorted it out.
Not sure what he did and never asked but works fine now.

That's not sounding promissing. It seems that this conversion (2.4 and stilo-head) is going to cost a lot of money and experimenting.Maybe it's better to go for an original crank and head and just put my money into forged rods and pistons. So i can go for a higher boost or compression.
Is there anyone who uses a higher compression than the original 8.5:1 .Most of the pistons are using a compression of 8:1.
Remember i would like to have more low rpm torque

Wossner offer a 9:1 piston for the Coupe, and if this isn't enough there are other companies out there who will make pistons to order to your spec.

why not just use the standard 20vt head with the standard valves, it will easily flow enough for a gt28rs on a 2.4

You'll also need a net under the subframe to catch all those differentials flying out.

Bart, it doesn't just need the technology, but also correct mapping. And believe me, nobody in Belgium will be able to help you (despite their claims and despite them sending you home saying "there... that should do it"). Maybe we should meet up and I can point out some of the possibilities and your budget.

Barbz can you tell us what you did to the cylinderhead? Tried to pm you but you are over the limit.
