There's an air space...

Apropos of which - on the Bravo, I discovered that if I fill at one particular garage I get fifty miles better range. I finally noticed that they've installed a small double ramp between the pumps - presumably to stop cars rolling if idiots don't use the handbrake - and when I pull forward to the diesel pump the back wheels are right on the peak; the back end is lifted about three inches, and that means I can stuff more fuel in.

Yes i was quite shocked that I got 68 in at this too i always thought it was a 65l tank, it got to 67.something litres in then because i fill with v-power you get double shell points per litre so i really had to squeeze the last drop in there smile
I still have the receipt as it came to 100.93 which i remember vividly!

is there any connection also i have found that my VIS will do more mpg on v-power than standard fuel, hence this is all i ever put in it.
is it my imagination or is there any fact i can pin this on?

Just done 415 miles, topped the tank up with 57 litres so averaged 33 mpg. Not bad for 300+ bhp, although a lot of that was motorway driving.

Fuel consumption on the coupe - any model - is far more about driving style than it is about modifications and power. On the motorway at a constant seventy, you're only using around 30bhp; depends mostly on the aerodynamics (similar for all coupes) and tyre drag (again, similar, though perhaps a bit worse for wider tyres).

The only modifications which will affect consumption in constant running are those which affect the efficiency of the engine burning fuel, not how much fuel it burns.

If you can maintain a constant 70mph with no acceleration or deceleration you will achieve a much better fuel economy that *averaging* seventy on the same journey by accelerating at every opportunity and then having to slam the anchors on when you get behind the next car. But not everyone drives like a grandpa... you'll also get best economy on a longer drive than a series of short ones, so the engine runs longer at its design temperature.

(I'm a grandpa, but I tend to forget that on a short journey in the coupe!)

Nigel I think a league table is in order.
Some really boring statistics would be nice.

Did a run from Chepstow to Dumfries and back this weekend for a wedding, M5/M6, straight off the M74 to the Hotel. Couldn't believe it, clocked nearly 500 miles on a tank full, nearly halfway back before filling up again.

The car is mildly modded, 20V NA chip from Flea, induction cone and Cybox. Did stick at about 70mph though smile
