Hi finally got a coupe really please with it.
Seems in Really good condition only issues are some laquer peel on bonnet but looks more like zits? Than general peel
Manifold leaking when cold and rear exhaust rotten
Also discovered when driving home thermostat is permanently open

For what I paid these are really minor things as it's got fsh all invoices clutch cambelt good tyres etc

I have been through the forum how to guides etc but would like additional advise/clarification
Headlights I've come across using sandpaper to clean up getting finer etc but also t cut is one better than the other as mine are cloudy
The guide for hid is a few years Old now what are most using successfully seen them on the bay from £20 upwards assume they have got cheaper as time has past as the ones mentioned on here were £90
The centre console guide on painting and covering, are they originally painted can I just clean off the sticky stuff and leave as is? Or is the only way to cover them in some way
The bonnet cable is stretched do these get any worse should I get it changed whil it still opens or do they adjust?
Hope you can help me with these questions and if it's in the wrong section my apologies hopefully will become a more active member and looking forward to some events hopefully next year
Cheers HR

I would pay Motormech a visit, that's your nearest coupe specialists In Birmingham, they will sort you out with all the bits you need to gt the car running as it should be and I believe Nigel can do work on the paint to improve the look?
Or Midlands Car Servicing is in Shepshed which isn't too far away?

Welcome to the forum.

Regarding the bonnet release cable, if its already markedly stretched its best to replace it, as can be a pain if they snap.

Regarding HID kits, you get what you pay for and the cheaper kits are cheap for a reason. Don't go mad on the hue of the HID bulbs more OE looking the better as police are cracking down on these ones that are overly bright or blue, think you want to aim for 4300k

Have fun!!

Hi thanks for that ive allready decided im going to use Motor Mech as its been highly recommended by another coupe owner i know, Im just a bit short at the mo as im away for school half term (in a couple of weeks)and also just buying taxing and insuring the car in one go has left my bank account a bit deflated, so im just going to sort the important stuff out first the bits i can do myseld then get it booked in for a cambelt sooner rather than later, then hopefully next year get anything else sorted and looked after by Motor Mech its only an hour away!!

To get the sig picture up you go into your profile and paste the img links above.

If you want to post a picture in a post you use the "direct link" from photo bucket, not img link, and paste into the img pop tags when using the full reply.

Mine started off with the 'zits' as you describe but once water gets under the lacquer it starts to peel back. I put up a post in styling showing my respray this post included how bad the peel was beforehand!

Oh and welcome smile

Ok we'll until its resized please stop putting it as your signature picture, it's way to large and it taking over the whole thread.

You should be able to resize it in photobucket.

Hi H R and welcome smile

Bonnet cables are breaking ten-a-penny at this age, and are a pain to go exactly at the time you need under the hood!

Have a look at this HowTo [from a useful section under the same name] and although some of the early pics are missing you should be able to prevent the usual problems.

Bonnet release hassle and fix

Ok well I'm going to remove it again as its still massive.

What about resizing it in a program like paint and saving to photobucket as a smaller image, whatever it is you're doing on photobucket it's still displaying a large picture.

H_R there's a fault on Photobucket where if you resize a file but leave it with the same filename, it reverts to the previous version when you link it to another site. Try re-sizing it, right click on the resized pic, save as (different name) on your desktop, then upload it to photobucket. Should be okay.

Nope. Its still too big 300 x 100 pixels is the maximum.

You have 200 x 150.

Just click Properties with the cursor on an image to check the size.
