Runs for cover! box I would like to shorten the gear stick by an inch or two, apart from being a bit chavy what are the negative implications of doing this? (i have figured out a way to shorten the sleeve and not loose the lift reverse)

Why would you want too? The seating position is already too high in the coupe, thus making the driver reach down. Why would you want to make the driving position worse?

I did this in my first coupe and it didn't work well. It was more difficult to reach it and harder to engage gears. I wouldn't do it again but it's your call!

Ok, you've talked me out of it. It just always felt a little too tall to me, probably because I sit so far forward. Saves me a job at the weekend then coat

As above really, I bought one of Taffy's short shift linkages and it feels ace now.

They're like rocking horse poop though and the misses would kill me, she's already told me no more coupe bits until i get new carpets and radiators (at home). irked

Last edited by jame5; 01/11/2012 17:58. Reason: not on the coupe!

I've got one on my VT6 and I wouldn't go back to standard.

Not expensive in real terms and if you find one I don't mind if you tell the Mrs I "donated" it to you.

Try contacting Barbz at Torque Italia or Taffy on here as they both used to do them.

I have a TI short shift kit on my 20VT6 and it totally transforms the gear change imo.
