Or is there a better way of transporting it, i.e. courier.

It would cost me £40 for a days hire and about the same again for petrol. The journey is 60 miles each way.

Anyone have any experience with this.

Cheers
John

I wouldn't use a courier John. It should fit in easily on a angle just put some padding on the edges.

Bob from experience collect it yourself, couriers cannot be trusted and they don't have insurance to cover any damage.

Clean, rust free bonnets are quite rare so for the cost of a van, time and some fuel I'd hire a transit and either lay it down in the back or tie it to the side with lots of padding.

I know a bonnet will fit in the older type transits, as I had to go and collect mine from carlT a few years ago.

It will have to sit at an angle, so take plenty of padding and something to wedge it or tie it down.

As I remember they're too wide to sit flat on the floor of a tranny.

One thing I had a fair bit of success with is using old carpet and ratcheting baggage straps to get things like that onto the roof of my old Mondeo (wasn't too scared of damaging the paintwork on that one).
That way it will be attached to something that is almost the same curved shape.
Finding a friend with Mondeo-like shed shouldn't be too difficult.
It might get interesting trying to open the doors with the overhanging bonnet sides.
