Hello people of the coupe variety. Today I have converted my rear lights to led (the £7.50p strip). I didn't fancy separating the lens as it looked easy to brake and time consuming. So instead I cut out a slight slot in the cup. This allowed me to position the led's easily. The cut out part can be easily glued back into place if you so wish to do so. When re-fitting the light I continued to use the original bulb for the brake light.(I may change this later) When wiring the Led's in I simply trapped the led wires in the grey connector block (ignoring the orange wire as it is the brake light and may wire some Led's to this also) End result Obviously changing the side light bulb would show the led's up more. They look better in the light at the moment.(more bodging required) Hope this is helpful. Muzzy...

It also makes it easier to return the rears to standard form. But Yeah, I am a lazy git!lol. Gives me more time.

A further bodge. I have stuck tape over the side light pickup on the bulb. Brake light still works but now the led's stand out much better. God I'm good

Just snip the wire like I did, led's stay on and stop tail works with braking. Think it's the orange one, check with Nismo, he showed me! Mine are Wired different. Don't want to play with the original wiring so I can return it to standard if I wish.

They would have to be 1 sided, do they even sell 1 sided pin bulbs?

Gave this a go this evening. Really easy way to fit the LED's, took me 30mins start to finish. Top tip, thanks

Took me ages to find but this is the original method that started the whole thing off, the reason we all started cutting the lenses off was how difficult it is to feed the leds into the lower lights.

Thanks Jame5, I used that one for cutting down Led's to length etc. I am only planning to have the side light ring in the uppers, so this method worked a treat for me.

When wiring the Led's in I simply trapped the led wires in the grey connector block (ignoring the orange wire as it is the brake light and may wire some Led's to this also)
Fitted my led's today, wired all as it should, checked this topic just to be sure what color is the brake light, and when all done, i found that orange wire is not brake light wire, grey wire is for brakes.....

Strange, sorry for the misinformation. I'm sure it was the orange on mine?

orange wire is for the side light , so snip that when you have the leds in and the leds become your side lights and the bulb does the brake light .

271092427027 that's the item number for 30cm strip of led bulbs. (Can't find how to put a link on my phone) You just need to cut the last 3 off. I'm sure someone else can put a link up for you though.

Even easier way.... I have been thinking doing this for a while as well and finally bought a couple of cheap 30cm strips off ebay. Now I am just wondering why everyone is cutting the clear part of the light housing or cutting chunks out the back of their light fitting? The strip easily goes though the rear hole where the bulb mount goes and can easily be positioned with the aid of a long middle finger (giggidy!) or screw driver if you have short stumpy digits ( I have no problem in this dept!lol )

I also found my wiring colours different from yours... orange being the positive for the sidelights, black negative and white for the brake lights (which I have left on the filament bulb.) Not sure if i am going to add LEDs to the lower ring and remove the original sidelight/brake filament from the sidelight circuit, ie Only using it as brake light. I just used scotch-blocks this now and will solder once decided

Are the red colour of the LEDS ok on the bottom lens that is half orange/white for brake light?
