Check the sensor in the boot, it meets to the left hand hinge for the boot lid. These come loose and can cause teh symptoms you describe.

right i took apart my interior and found the alarm, its a poxy ai606 , traced the wires to find a blue plug.... i unplugged said plug and pulled the whole alarm out, car starts fine, ticks over fine, even the central locking works fine.could it be really as simple as a single plug.

Bonnet or boot switch fault causes the fault you describe...
The four or five beeps tell you a switch isnt making...causing false alarms when you arm it.
Was the bonnet switch which failed on mine.

Bit late telling you now, but the 4 beeps means the alarm has been activated and when you unlock the car, if you count the immobiliser led blink, this will tell you which sensor has caused the alarm to go off.

ok good luck with the pkey system lol just for the record a toad ai606 as well as the usual will run an engine start, boot popper, total closure, and unlock and pop the driver’s door open plus text alert[operate from a mobile.]and then some. prob the best alarm on the market alongside Clifford.

I have that Toad on my Bongo van. Costs about £250 fitted by a pro. It's a Thatcham 1 and is good kit.

i just reinstalled my frog with the 1 connector, i dont think it was installed by a pro, yet i have a cert.
i brought up the install instructions and its only got the locking, indicators, door switches an bonnet switch, even the imobiliser isnt connected.
|It looks like they connected the basics up to the original alarm plug.

Thats not rite is it??
