Hi,
I have recently bought a 2.0 20v, year June 1999. Now I want to change the standard cloth seats to leather. I have bought a complete set from a 2000 2.0 20v. They look great! However, the rails are different (which seems to be rather strange)and cannot be changed to fit. Is there a good solution to this? Does the coupe have several mounting holes to fit them?

I am really looking forward to a solution, as the leather seats are fantastic.

Henk

The very late model coupes had side airbag seats with different mounts from the rest of the range. It is NOT an easy thing to fit them to earlier cars.

Thanks for your answer.
Can I change the frame and rails? I still have the old seats.

Is it possible to use subframes to make them fit? I saw some on rallyshop.it .

They are used to fit aftermarket seats.

It is no doubt possible but a lot of work, not seen anyone do it either.

I think I may have found the solution. I took the lower part from the old rail, which needed some work, since the bolts were welded to the rails. Now it is a matter of putting them under my new seats. Welding or bolts might do the trick.

Another question: The seats have side airbags, can I connect them to the Airbag ECU without any problem? Or should I leave them disconnected? Is there a risk they might go off, when connecting them to the airbag ECU?

Henk

Leave them disconected. Don't mess with the airbag ecu.

Might be worth giving Rog a ring at PowerItalia, I'm sure he made some adaptor plates up for installing Plus seats (yours will probably have the same subframe) into earlier cars.
