Hi guys, smile

As an ex coupe owner and site member, I thought this might be of interest to some of you. One of our MG forum members has just done his wheels in plasti-dip. He was so pleased with it that he's now in the process of doing the whole car.

Click here to see for yourself.

Please excuse our slow site. It only has a metro engine. laugh

It's very good stuff. Would like to see the finish up close. You can get it very smooth but if you spray it in thin layers it often is a bit rough. Can't wait to see the reports after a couple of months.

What the hell is that stuff, must be as addictive as Gliptone, starts with wheels and ends up plastering the whole car shocked laugh

It is brilliant stuff. I'm half way through redoing my ashtray and centre console.

Cracking effort from the MG chap, that's dedication!

Thanks Kayjey. smile

It's not a brand new product but with a £1200 vinyl wrap quote, he decided to do it for £130 with these tins of spray. Interesting though, for sure. wink

Never heard of this plasti-dip before. What's so special about it?

The guy has done a good job though!

What instead of 6. smile

He's given it a go. So, let's see. smile The guy that did it off his own dime will give an honest and unbiased report, supported with pics, on it. Come what may.

If that fails, 'MG enthusiast' magazine are doing a piece on his use of that product in 3 months time (April 2012). wink

For those who might want to buy a tin or two.. It costs 16 quid on ebay and £9 on the plasti dip UK site (google it).

All the best.. and check out my old coupe vid on youtube. cool

My old, awesome coupe.

Having used plastidip a few times, I predict it will get a scratch within a couple of months and he'll have to peel it all off. The problem is that, with it being rubber, you can't repair any damage with polish or a touch up.

Having said that; it's what my mesh grille is painted with (because I tried straight black paint on one of my previous cars and it chipped within a day) and it hasn't been damaged by stones yet. It's a bit harder to see any damage on the mesh of the grille rather than a flat piece of bodywork though.

Anyone successfully done a whole car? Might save a coupe from being scrapped if it works ok?
