You won't find much, if anything, rated over 130mph anyway.
I use Toyo Snoprox S953 in 205-50R16; one winter on the 20VT, and now two winters on the Bravo. (That size is no longer available; I'd probably go for a 195/50 instead for the coupe). This winter will finish them off with about 12k miles and perhaps 4mm tread left (still well legal but you'll see snow tyres have a 'legal' wear indicator and a 'we really don't work any more' indicator!).
The tyres are a size small for the bravo - should be 205-55R16 - but that just means the speedo reads about 4% high. I can get the correct size for next winter (or later this, if they wear faster than I expect), but I can't get a narrower tyre with a higher aspect ratio - a 195-60, say - in this make. Never mind...
The handling is a little different, but on the whole good. Even two years old, these were noticeably better on turn-in than the Falkens I've been running all year.

You won't be disappointed with the Unis. I live in a hilltop town, remember the Hovis advert with the boy on a bike?
With the Uniroyals I am able to get up and down the hill. One year only Land Rovers and tractors were able to get to my work, apart from my Coupe.

I've just bought a full set of Hankook W310 Winter I-cept Evo tyres from Camkill. I did have a look at the Avons recommended above but Camskill didn't stock them, neither did black circles and generally the Hankooks received better reviews than the two stand out recommendations in this thread. I'll report back when I get to test them out in some appropriate weather. Thanks for the input.

I put Toyo snowprox on mine and they are great in ice/snow.
Snow tyres, viscodrive and a heavy front make the coupe a good car in the snow. Only draw back is the low ground clearance and idiots driving too close behind when you brake.
Any *branded* snow tyre will be night and day over a summer tyre - a recent review has a no-name that was no better than a normal tyre. Having winter tyres also frees you up for a higher performance summer tyre that doesn't do so well in winter. I bought Toyo R1Rs for that, fantastic summer tyre but go below 5C and its a different story.

This will be my 3rd winter. Those and the R1Rs is the best car 'mod' I ever did.

Tried quite a few since 1995 and, yes, buy a "decent" tyre and you will be fine. Many Chinese no-name tyres have the M&S and snowflake sign but they are pants in the summer, never mind winter. Some products other than cigarettes should have a health warning on them!
The top brands are usually the best simply because they have to keep developing to do well in tests (loads of tyre tests in Germany) but many of the other known brands are the second brands of the very famous ones and produce very reasonable products.
Choice in the 20V size (205/50 15), is limited now. Last year I needed a new set and there were only 4 decent manufactures including Semperit (Conti brand), Hankook, Kuhmo and one other. The Semperit was the winner in the ADAC test. This year others have overtaken it.
I would not get too stressed about the choice as long as it is from a company who has a reputation that they want to keep. If in doubt, find a good professional test on the product. If you can't, buy something for which you can! There is usually enough choice out there to do this.
