Bit of a leftfield plea for help from me tonight.

I wondered if anyone could be able to trace the owner and their address as the DVLA have it for a vehicle I sold to an individual "on credit".

I've sold 2 vehicles on a monthly repayment scheme to this individual, who when I first met was managing a very respectable hotel in the Midlands. He paid for the first vehicle, but lost his job and, to cut a very long story short - but they appear to have vanished back to South Africa and I've no way of contacting them other than a UK mobile which goes straight to voicemail, and an address which he no longer lives at.

Now, I have a purchase contract with this individual for the car (which I believe is legally binding), and am following this with the appropriate legal eagles.

I'm trying to use the DVLA keeper enquiry service to find out this info - but as an individual, am unable to do so. Solicitors and others, however, have this power to access this data.

So, I was wondering if anyone here may be able to get this info, or advise?

I'd rather not live and learn as it's a not inconsiderable amount I am chasing either

I'm exploring all avenues, and this place is littered with knowledgeable souls

DVLA should be able to provide you with the information for this, it is a reasonable purpose. I'd pursue that avenue and appeal any decision nor to disclose the information

As you've sold the car on business terms, you have reasonable cause to use the database Dan?

I hope so Jonny. Other offers to help track this info down too so hopefully will have a good starting point before too long.
