Well, with every bolt undone before they started, and the lifting hooks already on, and the carburettor primed...

True, that's just taking it out and putting it in, what about all the connections, fuel lines, hoses etc...

And that bonnet....talk about quick release.

It would take a few seconds extra for the coupe because you need two people to move the bonnet, so probably around 48 seconds in total.......

I suspect no gearbox oil either; just slide the splined shafts in - you see it pause a few inches high.

still mighty impressive, although an old cvh or x-flow isn't the heaviest of lumps and 1983 Ford tech was rather limited to stop and go on the pop1

Ahh those were the days.

I remember the bolts always used to shear due to the lower cradle mounting issues.
You could always tell when someone was working on a ford as they always had speckles of rust on there face.

Before I had any lifting equipment me and my mate tied the engine to a tree on my mums drive and managed to remove and reinstall it by bending the branch laugh
And the tree is still there to this day.
Innovative design we thought.usually took 4-5 hours though.

I must admit my cross flow used to kill the later cvh engines.

My Mk1 xr2 always used to wipe the floor with the escorts, orions and Mk2 xr2's.
But used to cut out if you cornered too hard.
And puddles were best avoided.

What do you expect? They're from Portsmouth.

Stripping a car to its component parts quickly is part of the curriculum down here.

I'm surprised someone didn't nick the wheels when they weren't looking biglaugh

I remember a long time ago when I lived in Ashford my neighbour and I were leaving for work at the same time. I drove away, and after looking back my mate hadn't moved. I went back and found the engine of his car running beautifully but it just wouldn't move. Someone had nicked his propshaft.... we just laughed, and I gave him a lift thumb
