For hobby stuff - or even mid-serious stuff - consider this one: http://www.3ds.com/products/draftsight/download-draftsight/ - very similar to Autocad to use, and produces sensible output files. You need to register but it's free. If you're using Linux, Qcad isn't *bad* but I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say it's *good*. It's somewhat idiosyncratic in its commands...
