As good steel grey coupes with no sunroof are seemingly just about impossible to find I've bought this one!

Needs quite a lot of work, mostly cosmetic and missing/broken bits here and there so I think I'll be all over the parts for sale section for the next month or so.

Oil pressure is fine (>2 bar hot) and just did compression test today and all within 5% so the engine seems solid.

It has black 17" multi-spoke wheels that I'll be switching for standard (for insurance) so will probably be open to swapping them if anyone has spare turbo wheels with good tyres.

Is this the one that's been on sale for ages, that for some reason has Plus seats in it?

Well done, I guess the seats are almost worth what you paid, if they're in good nick.

Ive got a set of decent condition silver 20VT wheels just down the road from you Graham in Ayrshire.
Two of them with decent tyres. Bought them off Ross/H2ypr last year as an alternate set but ended up not using them.

I'm not dissing the set from Gargoil, just a heads up as much for future reference as anything, keep an eye on the spokes. Some seem to have said they have more faith in aftermarket rims for that reason. I understand the insurance reasons for swapping them. I much prefer the standard myself.

Well it is the best colour! wink

Now managed to get a decent insurance quote including the 17" wheels that are on it so I'll just be leaving them as is, but thanks for the offers.

And now the work will begin... it needs cam cover gasket and new plugs (old ones were sitting in 1" of oil!), new front bumper, nearside mirror and headlight, standard airbox/pipe/filter, bonnet struts and dump valve/hose. Boot lid and rear wing also need resprayed but that's for later.

And the best thing about having a coupe again is...

I'm already using some of those spare parts I've had lying around my garage for 10 years! laugh

Not to mention all the spare nuts, bolts and screws that are left over whenever you take something apart. So what parts have you had lying around that you should have sold ages ago and made a fortune from, that are now virtually worthless?

So far I've used a complete standard airbox/filter and the pipe that connects it to the AFM + a spare bonnet gas strut, that I've had sitting here for 10 years, haha.

The car had a cone filter that looked very oily (probably from the cam cover leak since it's badly leaking all the way around) and wasn't well positioned so when the bonnet struts failed the bonnet has crashed down, smashing the rear of the nearside headlight pod and deforming the air pipe to the AFM.

Used the spare bonnet strut I had but both were gone so had to order one new one and just sorted a pair of used headlights from forum member. smile

Forge recirc dump valve also in the post, to replace the atmospheric one that's currently fitted.

Oh and it only came with the silver key and the airbag warning light was on too, but I've managed to sort that already.
