Currently the coupe runs on billies and eibachs.
I have large speed bumps within a few hundred yards of where I live and a considering moving back to standard or even standard shockers with lowering springs for a softer ride. It's quite crashy around where I live. On the open clean road the handling is fab but mainly a road car.

Has anyone actually driven a car with billies and car lowered on standard shocks? Just wondered if I would tell much difference between the two?

If I do go back to standard, would I assume if I used my breakers shocks and springs I wold benefit from fitting new top mounts before fitment? Otherwise I'm good to go?

I assume a strut can be removed from a coupe quite easy?

Any help appreciated.

I drove my 16VT with Sparco and then with AVO springs with standard dampers. The ride was better in the way that the car was more stable in the straight especially in higher speeds and only a tad more stiffer in the corners.
Then I drove my 20VT with standard dampers and Eibach springs and the ride was a bit bouncy until I put the Billies/Koni's on. If you are worried about the speed humps I would remove the Eibach's and put some softer springs on (Sparco's will only lower the car by and inch and are softer than the Eibach's) or the OEM springs.

Yes, a strut can be easily removed from the car. Just get some good spring compressors and remove the whole thing with the top mount and then dismantle it once it's all out. Just be careful as you don't want the compressed spring to jump off uncontrolled tongue

PS if you will decide to go for standard dampers then left me know as I got some.

Cheers mate, I've got some on my green breaker.
I was thinking the fcss lowering springs on the standard dampers along with fresh top mounts, but then I'm thinking go fully back to standard.

I may go standard first as should cost me nowt as I have all the bits from my breaker.

When I bought mine 11years ago it was on Eibach springs and std shocks - just horribly harsh as the shocks were in full load mode all the time. Go std springs in that case!

Am I right in thinking Bilstein shocks mated with FCSS lowering springs will be less hard/more comfortable than mated with Eibach springs?

I've got billies and FCSS springs - the ride is good, better than with standard springs.

Enjoying Coop ownership, second time round . Also enjoying RWD action in a thundering V8 E90 M3.

I'm on FCSS springs with Osrav and I would say it's a better ride than standard.

Read this suspension post post by cosmograph. He summarised a variety of different set ups and ended up with billies with standard springs as his preferred combination.

Your problem is not the bilsteins. Its the springs.

Stick to your bilsteins (provided they are in good condition) and mate them with standard springs. That would take away all your crashiness. The B6 aren't really suppose to be paired with lowering springs anyway.

The key to having a nice compliant ride while improving the handling is to have Stiff Dampers + Light springs

I currently have billies and fcss springs.
Im also going back to standard springs. Nothing wrong with the FCSS ones im just tired of bottoming out and scraping my bumper.

Reubs
The billies are a standard replacement for the standard shocks as Kelv has said. They are not supposed to be for lowering springs. Use your billies combined with standard springs... that's what im going to do anyway.

To be fair i do like the look of my car lowered but from bumper sure does sacrifice itself on speedbumps and ride quality.

The way you go around the track suggests that this is a pretty good set-up thumb

Nothing at all to do with your driving skill wink

I have OE Shocks with Eibachs - yes the rides firmer but in no way is my ride harsh. You cannot beat the look either. I guess it all goes down to the state your shocks are in to start with.......

KYB, and there seam to be plenty of suppliers when googling.

Page 228 for front springs and 232 for the rears (RC3413 front, and RC6443 rear.

Didn't the original Fiat springs for the front come in 2 flavours, for air-con and non air-con models?
