Yes, thanks for the reminder Bob, I will remind Kayjey he still has it ready to put up on the club website.

edit, In the meantime I will upload them to photobucket and hope that the scans are legible.

It may take a while, there are rather a lot.

Beware: photobucket resamples/resizes images to reduce file size...

Thanks Neil, I think they are just about legible on a PC.

I've done one for the 16 valve variant introduction to try it out. I had already scanned the pages.

See what you all think.

It will be up full size on the club website later.

edit Please dont try to add anything, the beta software seemed pretty flaky while I was putting it together. I have not seen a way of turning off inviting contributions other than making it a private area, which defeats the whole object.

Saved a page, I could read it when opened. The same as printing the page, blurred but ok.
If it appears full size it may be ok
Love the illustrations!

With this 900 high screen, it's just about legible after Firefox has rendered it. Right-click and 'view image' increases the size a touch, and that's fine.

Well I do think that Neil should be running these scans through his DIY-OCR package wink

I thunked about it... might try if I have a few minutes. I think the resolution is too low though; the OCR likes better than 150 and prefers 300 dpi.

Here is the press release for the November 1993 European launch of the coupe.

The scan quality is a bit iffy as it was of a bound document which I did not want to destroy.

Again please don't attempt to add anything to it.

Interesting reading petep.

"The Fiat Coupe (20v models) feature a new centre console with a number of redesigned elements, including a new analogue clock, larger illuminated ashtray..."

Anyone have an illuminated ashtray?

Pete, if you have decent scans you could stick on a disk or a memory stick for me to have a play with OCR?

Yes, I have the original scans saved Neil, I'll get them to you.

They were done on an Epson stylus SX535WD if that gives you an idea of the likely quality.

edit There's just under 32mb in total.

I have the original text of the 1993 press release, inside the yellow folder should be a 3½" floppy disc with simple text files of the press release in various languages, so no need to OCR them if you don't need/want to?

Also I have the other UK press releases (and several others from other car shows) which I can quickly scan to PDF on the copier at work, with resolutions of 100, 200, 300, 400 or 600 dpi, if that helps? (probably not, Pete's scanner goes up to 2400 dpi)

300 is best for OCR. I'm curious to see what comes out of it.

But don't scan anything on my behalf until I've chewed through Pete's stuff.
