not talking show level huge flames, just a spit when changing gear and a flurry on over-run, racing car style - switchable or when 'going fo it'
Think there is a new main stream car introducing similar
The idea of running a fuel line to the exhaust sound like it might be a bit of a worry..yet if its done with engine tuning, presumably the Cat would be toasted

A flamer kit involves a spark plug being fitted towards the tailpipe. A coil like device connected to a basically an 'on, off' switch puts a spark across the plug. This then ignites unburnt fuel. Its possible to do it on turbo'd cars where exhaust temperatures are high which does the same thing.
Also apparently mot stations will fail flamer kits when fitted.

i know that if you have a switch which is off at the time you get pulled over you should be fine, i had this years ago and as far as i know the law hasnt changed to out rule that.... proberly wrong though lol.

Lol. I think the flames are chavey and illegal whereas ignited gases loke rally cars isnt as long as its not caused by anything illegal like an antilag kit. You will also fail an mot if you exhaust has a spark plug bolted to it. Lol

This really is a young mans silly dangerous toy, seen on immature "chavy" vehicles. Each to their own & all that, but it's all been said before as pointed out. Regarded by most as pointless.
I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

Mine flames on over-run when fitted with a decat. I got flashed coming off a dual carraige way once after some 'spirited' driving. The guy stopped alongside me at the bottom of the sliproad looking very concerned, "you've got fire coming out of your exhaust!! " he exlaimed. "I know", I replied Mine does it without any of these dodgy mods etc I'm hasten to add. Now that I run with the cat back on, I have never been told my exhaust has been flaming. If the flames are an indication that the car is running rich then I would look to have this resolved but I have had it MOT'd recently - emmisions were fine so hopefuly all is good

...not so much the afterburn as the thwack when changing gear during spirited drive - my M758 limited edition Porsche Turbo used to do when being thrashed - the flame would light up the countryside behind and occasionally tiny pieces of red hot carbon would bounce down the road - sounded magical...trying to emulate that (she was pre-cat and driven quite hard)
also tested a coop with aftermarket turbo and blueflame - that gave muted 'thwack' on shifting once I got it nicely warmed up
so, to re-cap - I didnt want to say non-chavvy set-up to avoid offending sensibilities, but as it has been raised - looking for more like the above, veering toward race car - NOT the show stuff as in the other thread clicky
The thwack when shifting near the limiter with a hot turbo is the 'connoisseurs' version of a EBOV?!
Not sure how much a sport cat would enhance this characteristic = presumably they are legal whereas cat removal presumably is insurance void.
Presumably during a re-map this area can be tweaked whilst leaving general running at optimum fuelling?
Does 20vt have a mechanical fuel shut off on throttle idling over-run? - if so, re-introducing fuelling may be sufficient, depending on performance criteria?

I have never even tried or thought about deliberately trying to get flames from my exhaust.
I'm with Barnacle on this one though... if you've got enough fuel in your exhaust to ignite then your AFR is off the chart. Older cars with carbs and chokes could often run rich (hence shorter life of older engines), but modern cars with lambda sensors and EFI (like a coupe?) should maintain AFR in a band that does not damage the engine... not too rich, not too lean.... that's kinda why people spend lots of money on a proper remap to get their fueling right.
And also.... unless it's a car that does flame on it's own then it is chavvy.
