I've received an e-mail today asking about the authenticity of a canvas print of a drawing with a Fiat Coupe. I guess we never released any info about these in public, but indeed a year ago a canvas print was offered exclusively to club members.

The package contained:
- numbered canvas print signed by the original artist
- numbered certificate signed by myself and the original artist
- numbered and optionally personalised booklet about the Fiat Coupe history, signed by myself and the original artist
- how-to-care-for-your-canvas A4

A total of 16 canvasses were made.

The original artwork:

The original artist was Jan Bosschaert, a Belgian illustrator / artist, who made the artwork for Fiat Belgio for the launch of the Fiat Coupe in Belgium. This was a limited edition serigraph of which I also have an original signed example (for my birthday - again, thank you Jan!).

A low-resolution example of the booklet is here:

http://www.onemilepage.com/fccuk/booklet_v7_lowres_0mm.pdf

Some of you may already have seen one hanging on Joe's wall. The original booklet also has an added last-minute page that was glued-in after some original study drawings were revealed to me by Jan.

So yes, these canvas DO exist and they ARE genuine if they can be matched to the accompanying booklet and certificate. They were professionally printed (canvas as well as booklet as well as certificate on copy-proof paper) so if you get just a piece of regular looking paper or inkjet-printed thingies, beware!

Here is the original thread (note that the final items looked slightly different).

http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=916183#Post916183

The text on the certificate has more info on the work:

“Fiat Coupé” Limited Edition canvas print

Original drawing by Jan Bosschaert. Exclusive to the members of the Fiat Coupé Club UK.

This Limited Edition canvas reprint was offered exclusively to the members of the Fiat Coupé
Club UK, with orders being accepted from 8 October 2009 to 31 October 2009.

The featured artwork was originally drawn by the Belgian artist Jan Bosschaert,
commissioned by Fiat for the launch of the Fiat Coupé in Belgium, and was offered to a
select number of dealers as a serigraph print sized 50cm x 40cm. The artwork itself covered
an area of 36cm x 30cm and each print was signed and numbered by the artist. The featured
car is the original Fiat Coupé 16v in its original launch colour broom yellow, pictured in
an Italian scene near a lake with a woman in a red dress and a man in a black suit who is
standing in the lake.

This project was initiated and handled by Klaas De Waele, co-founder of the Fiat Coupé Club
UK and also known as ‘Kayjey’, in close personal cooperation with the artist Jan Bosschaert,
who has hand signed each individual canvas, certificate and the miniature information
booklet that was provided with the canvas. In addition, each canvas was individually hand
numbered by Jan Bosschaert. Each certificate and booklet was hand signed by Klaas De
Waele. The canvas print was produced by Funkiness Design. The miniature information
booklet was designed by Klaas De Waele and printed by Leleu Group. All contact information

They were made in one single batch, only for the people who were interested at that time and no longer available in any way. I was immediately offered double the club price by a Jan Bosschaert fan. When I said 'no' he said 'well then name you price'. So I guess if you find the right man / artist fan they could be worth quite a bit.

I'm keeping mine forever though. And my original serigraph as well. smile

That particular one Kayjey organised was a one off.

16VT and X1/9 1500 + e208 Peugeot

I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.
I even unplugged my own.

A picture fit for the garage wall? I understand the rarity of it but it's not a nice picture to look at, I guess that's art for you.

Well, on a scale of 'Hay wain stuck in a ford[1]' to 'half a cow, pickled' it seems to be firmly on the former side.

It's in the eye of the beholder, no doubt, but there's plenty of alleged art I wouldn't give wall space to irrespective of cost, and if you like the artist's style, why not?

Hyperlink, I would suggest to get in touch with those who have sold up and see what they sold it for.

In theory, the value should be between £150 and £900 (perfect condition, with all the documents that came with it). If everyone would be selling up at the same time, value would be the lowest of those. If only one was selling and you had two Jan Bosschaert fans fighting, you'd get the highest price (and I'm sure someone else would instantly sell to the guy who lost out). So average value... right in the middle.
