Did anyone else see the Sprint Blue Coupe racing in the Castle Combe Saloons championship today? I'm pretty certain it's Alfanutters ex Coupe as it's the one I was tempted to buy a few weeks back!
It seemed to make a good showing, just very quiet compared to the rest of the cars with a driver that was understandably being cautious (novice cross - first race?). It finished about two thirds of the way down i'd say, worth watching out for in future. cool

Yep, it was Dave smile

A fair few of us were tempted to buy that one.

Nice to see it being used for the purposes it was built!!

Ah yes, you beat me to the introduction Dave! After we had a talk, I got wind that the car was likely to meet an untimely death within a few days by a prospective buyer i.e. broken for bits, so I stepped in and did a deal there and then!

I know this car well as we have undertaken all the engine tuning work on it over the last couple of years. Now it was only last week that we took on the car!! It was never meant to go racing this year, let alone this weekend, not nearly enough work done to the car to make it competitive with the front order, but a turn of events meant we had need to fill a space on the grid! So it was prepped this week in order to meet regulations and pass scrutineering. A few problems were overcome as it wasn't running right, but she made it to the grid looking pretty fine and did a sterling job despite basic suspension/chassis modifications, a slipping standard clutch, warped standard brakes, and down on power as result!

The current spec is really quite modest for a race car, still on the original factory engine, but the aim is to get it up with the front runners for next year so that we have another Coupe competing in a championship series smile

Was good to see the car on track mixing things up a bit against the usual machinery.
I look forward to following the progress! Keep us posted with future racedays! thumb
