Anyone here owned one?

Ive always fancied one but surprised how much a good one still costs.

What are they like to live with day to day and running costs?

Seen a few stage 1/2 Evo 7 and 8, look quite tasty.

Highly modified ones have become really cheap. I regularly see 500-600bhp Evo's for sale for £10-£15k.

I've had an Evo 7 fq300 and an Evo 8 mr.

Evo 5 are typically the strongest.

There basic and rattly.
Bang for buck there ok and the handling is epic..
Very reliable if maintained well.

If your not hooning around like a joy rider then everyday driving is boring.
Very bland basic interior and exterior.
Laggy unless your on boost, rubbish on fuel and maintenance costs are expensive.

I got rid of my Evo 8 last year as it really Didnt do anything for me at all.
Clutches and Diffs are common failures as I found out twice but if your looking for something quick off the mark then get a scooby.

I lent mine to Porkypaul whilst I was working on his car and even he said it was pants.
A stock 20vt will be on its bumper if on a rolling start and obliterate the Evo after 70mph.

For the money I would and did buy an Rs6.Everything on them, effortless power and one hell of a road presence.

Awesome cars.(mines for sale laugh )

Ha, nice one, but ive heard how deep your pockets have to be for an RS6. Definitely not for me.

Ive literally just picked up my younger brothers Scooby STI with stage 1 mods from North London so had a good blast in it.
I got to say I really enjoyed it, around 365bhp good sound and surprisingly good ride, not crashy or rattly, lovely 18" alloys and the classic Blue colour, very tempting.

How would you compare the Mitsi with the Scooby?

What you have written above doesnt excite me about the Evo......

Thanks.

The scooby is ok but suffers with almost everything mechanically and corrosion wise.(corrosion also on evos even after a few years old)
Mine was 08 reg and the floorpan was rotten.

Scooby reliable upto 400bhp but no more..
I wouldve gone for scooby but don't like the chav image it portrays.
Evo is hands down a better car with more potential but I would have the scooby anyday over the Evo.

Mature drivers go for the rs6 though (mines for sale laugh )
And the RS246 forum is the best I have been on.very helpful.
Mines only cost me £3500 in 1500 miles so not too bad.

Technics, if you're looking for an RS6, I think someone on here is selling one. I'll try to post a link smile
