Installing Apexi AVC-R Tips? #1430968

I have decided to replace my Gizzmo MS-IBC with an Apexi AVC-R.

I have used the search function and understand that I need to connect to Pin 6, Pin 53 and Pin 9 on ECU/Loom. I have found the workshop manual which shows what Pin is 1 etc.

My Question is, whats the best way to attach wires? I am presuming it's to tap into the Loom with Scotchloks? My soldering isnt that good, so not entirely confident about doing that!

From reading the install guide, it seems I have to take apart the DIN switch that plugs into ECU Connector. (I have fitted a G-Tech 2, and consider myself fairly competent). How hard is it to take Din plug apart and is there any risks I have to be aware of? (other than Static discharge)

If any of you have any tips, please let me know.

Thank you in advance

Happy

You can either splice into the loom before it goes into the plug(easiest), or wire it directly into the ecu like I did. Only problem with that is, you can't remove the ecu from the car - something I've never had to do.

Thanks for confirming this, I think that as wire colours on loom are duplicated that I would still have to take the DIN connector apart to ensure I was tapping into the correct pin/signal.

I just worked out the PIN numbers and colours then spliced and soldered the wires to the loom.
I got the info from here but I can't remember which posts....

This might help

From memory I had to take the connector apart to figure it out.

Thanks Jonone, I had a look at the connector, removed that and the ECU, then undid the 3 screws on the black connector/multiplug

That was as far as I got as unable to get any further with dissasembly, (couldn't see any way to get the white plug part from the black part, without causing damage, I tried to gently pry it from the black part but no joy)

Think I will get someone to solder connections onto the PCB/Connector for me. smile
