I am hopefully picking up my new coupe this Sunday and as I treat to the car (and myself) I was thinking of not only giving it a good clean BUT a full detailing job. So I was looking at some machine polishers and some you tube clips to see how hard it actually is and can you make a complete mess of things if an armature like myself??
Has anyone on here got any experience of detailing and is it worth me having a go myself or should I leave it to the pros?? Also what kind of products do you guys favour for when cleaning/polishing your cars? ? ?

Have ago I did,I bought a meguiars g220 v2,good piece of kit. It's not hard using a machine like that, just take your time, I also watched lots of videos.
Products I use autogylm and meguiars.
My clio was amazing when I did it!

The guy I've always used isn't cheap at £150-£300 a pop but my god he's good. Most proper detailers charge around £70-£150 for a full detail taking between 2-3 days in total.
You can cause alot of damage with machine polishing so its cheaper to use someone else then a respray.

I would use a pro if you want a proper job. Probably not much cost difference between buying all the kit and materials and getting a professional to do it all for you. It is a one-off job - once it is done properly you will be able to maintain the shine yourself.
Patch234 would be your man as he is as anal as a very anal person but he is in Istanbul at the moment and not expected back any time soon.......

OK so I leave it to he professionals... Apart from weekly cleaning how often would clay bar the car to make sure the annoying swirls don't appear... Also seen and understand the 2 bucket method but why the lambs mitt? whats all that about ? ? ?
