Decided to go for a set of Conti's because there won't be a production run of the 452's until september and the Toyo's until october. Or so I was told. The Conti's could be there within 2 days which I really needed so I went for those. Falkens would be 109 euro, Conti's were 136 per corner.

They squeal a bit more rather than the 'grinding' noise the Falkens make. In general they are a much softer and much more comfy tyre. I'd say grip-wise they are just about the same but they feel a bit less precise due to their flex and thread movement. I think I will try to run them at a higher pressure. But... it's amazing what a difference this tyre makes to absorbing the dry 'thump' you typically get going over ridges with both wheels AND potholes with one wheel. They make the car feel much more solid and remind me of when I got my sprinty plus new, with a smooth ride. I do believe the Falkens are a much better tyre on track running the normal pressures, but surely I'm going to experiment further.

I did get a run in some serious rain and they are very good at resisting aquaplaning as well, but I wasn't in a position to try the absolute grip.

More to follow, but impressed as far as ride is concerned.

Slightly different but I had the 452 but in 18" form and thought they were rock hard! No flex at all and didnt inspire confidence. In the rain they were pretty average too, if that.
Then I went for Conti 5p so a fair bit newer than the Conti you have, but the ride was much improved (although I did go up a profile size too) I thought they were quieter, made the car feel more planted and the grip levels (wet and dry) was far superior! More feedback too.

Now in the 400+ bhp club!

I'm surprised I've not read any reviews on Michelin Pilot Super Sports, I've just put a set of these on my Scirocco pro replace the Bridgestone Potenza S001.
The Bridgestones were good tyres but the car developed a noise that sounded like a rear wheel bearing failing, so much VW replaced both rear wheel bearings under warranty.
It turns out the inner tread blocks on the rear wheels had developed a saw tooth tread wear which causes this high pitch noise.

After asking around I was recommended the Michelins by two VW tuners so went for them. Initial impressions, the car hardly lights up the front tyres now, bare in mind the car is stage 2+ so probably around 340bhp, it give a little chirp from the front tyres if I floor it and that's it, the rest is just acceleration. Cornering is very confidence inspiring, great turn in and great breaking.
As soon as it cools, I'm taking it on the track against my friends stage 2 Golf R who has just fitted the same tyres so will report back.
Definitely worth a try though.

Barbz told me to get Conti 5`s for my 18`s on the coupe,he says they totally transform the ride,so I`m trying hard to wear out my Falkens that are currently on my car laugh

I've just fitted Conti CSC3 to the front of my Coupe (after dozens of sets of Toyo T1-R) - first impressions are very good, with a definite reduction in noise. Not sure grip levels are any better than the Toyos, but I haven't pushed it particularly hard yet
