I purchased this car a couple of months ago from RICHB, and while mechanically she's pretty sound, cosmetically there were a few problems. So when I got her home, I had to decide which way to go, get the few niggly bits sorted or go for a full respray… I decided in the end for the full respray so that the car was the same colour overall instead of several shades. So off she went to the paintshop last week.

I've used the same guys in Hull for 10 years or so, they always do a brilliant paint job, but always leave the car in a mess… but the results are worth it! Picked the car up on Friday and she looked like she'd been sat in a barn for 10 years! So my weekend was cut out for me.

Yesterday I dug out the interior, washed everything down, and treated the leather to some Gliptone.

Today I gave the car a good wash, polish, and wax, including the wheels, and put on new badges, so this is how she looks now:

Really pleased with the result.

Still a fair bit more to do over the next few years, next job is detailing the engine bay (still full of dust), and want to get a new water hose set ordered from John when I get paid at the end of the month along with a new thermostat. Next year I'm going to look at getting the seats refurbished, they're okay now, but the drivers side is starting to get a little worst for wear.

Its been an exhausting weekend, but well worth it cloud9

Very very nice mate thumb My cars twin! Another easy cheap LE improvement is to refurb the wheel centres. Pop them off then heat them up in warm water. The centre F/I/A/T badges prise out if you bend them gently - they're not stuck in. Tin of plastic primer then spray red. They make an huge difference with that small amount of red against the Grey/Silver......Mine were Salmon Pink! (Thanks to MC Mike thumb)

another gorgeous silver LE!!

depending on the condition of your seats, i would recommend the gliptone scuffmaster kit. It isn't that expensive to buy and its fairly simple to use.

i did mine not so long ago and was really pleased with the outcome!

Thanks guys, especially for the tips! thumb

Will certainly have a go at the centre caps as mine are also salmon pink (come to think of it, when I bought some new ones off eBay a couple of years ago they were salmon pink too).

Not too sure about the seats though, the drivers side bolster is well out of shape and there are some small areas of missing top leather on the red bits, so not too sure if the scuff master kits would actually do anything for me. Will give it a go though as it's so much cheaper than a full refurb.

Alex, how did you get on with matching the colour (black's not too bad, but what about the red), did you have to mix your own from the kit?

As per Alexs' PM to me - if you look on the Gliptone website theres actually a manufacturers list to select from and theres a single kit especially for the LE with both colours in! thumb

Indeed. The colours were matched from my LE seat I sent to Gliptone. So they are spot on.
