John,

If you need help with spares I have a good contact who has almost ever spare known to Alfa Man! He's an invaluable source for Jean's Spider and sold a friend of my son's a great GTV recently.

It's a good car but you're surely not changing from the Coupe?!

Hi Chris

Coupe will be around for many years to come.

Just fancied adding another car to the 3 others I currently have.

If I go for this GTV I might need your guys contact details.

The usual cambelts with variator and all associated belts as with the coop but it must be done every 3 years on 2.0 models. 5 years i think for v6. Some specialists quote cheap on V6 but its main belt price alone, look into this i think they need an uprated water pump impeller too. The lots costs a lot, look at PowerItalia website for a true breakdown on cost.

Check the fuse for the rear heated screen in the fuse box under the steering wheel. THIS CAN CAUSE THE WHOLE CAR TO CATCH FIRE. If the fuse box is melted round this fuse there is a good chance you will need to replace the box to get the rear screen working, you will need this as there is no rear wiper. Just because the light on the heated screen button works doesn't mean the screen does its a different circuit.
(google stoyce rear screen mod to fix, its easy i done it)

Check the window drops both side on later models and get them to drive as wind noise can be really bad in some cars. It can be adjusted but some cars just suffer with it more as like the coop they were hand made.

Temperature should be 90 or above not 50-60.

Check the electric boot release in the glovebox works.

When driving and being driven listen for droning both sides, they eat wheel bearings and the rear suspension can cause cheaper rear tyres to go 50p shaped very quick which drones like bugger!!!. They might need a 4 wheel alignment as rear suspension very passively steers, check inside edges of tyres.

The rear suspension needs specialist inspection really.

Make sure owners check the oil a lot. JTS needs 10-60.

V6s can have bad fitting not Alfa air filters.

Check electric ariel works.

Some owners say don't move the seats backwards and forwards with the ignition running/on as it can cause the air bag light to come on.

Airbag lights once on often need a replacement airbag computer.

Lamba sensors common fault too.

Check clutch/brake fluid as these cars leak a tiny bit and can run low after a while the slave cylinders do fail time to time. Like the coop the fluid should be changed every 2 years.

Duel mass flywheel too can cause problems..

Any questions post them up,

Tom.
