I expected this, I have planned for this. No one should buy a sub £500 coupe and expect it to come with out issue.

So, with out further adue...

I give you my backbox, on the floor, at sainsburys carpark at 8pm in the evning:

As an experienced coupe owner the removal from the rear exhaust hangers a rusty backbox using only a screw driver is a trivial task.

I was aware the backbox was looking tired, it was on the shortlist for some work I just didn't expect it to fail so well, and so quickly (looks like a bad patch up)

If that was the case, it would have magically fixed its self by the time I got to see it.

edit, shame. Thought things had changed around here, guess not.

Sure the seller didn't try and hide it first.

Edit - People change... history doesn't.

Seemed like a honest chap, he hadn't had car long. I don't suspect he knew there was an issue to be fair. Sometimes these things just happen.
Indeed Phil, my thoughts exactly.

Good opportunity to fit a nice stainless steel jobby, they often come up quite cheaply

An honest chap that put the issue on another (vehicle specific) forum for advise?

Nelly, you have an axe to grind, that's fine. Its been a coupe of years now.
For full disclosure to every one who is wondering what the darnd is going on. Nelly bought a car of me. He called me on the way home to say the gearbox had failed.
A supprise to me as I had driven the best part of 100 miles that day to take the car to meet him.

There was some threats made to me by Nelly, I went to see the car and try and resolve the issue to be told he had now fixed it under a recall warranty.

I offered to pay half towards the gearbox regardless although only after I had seen the car.

Nelly, I really call in to question your status of a moderator if you couldnt have taken this to PM and after 3? years are still gunning for me.

Regardless,

Yes I still have an issue with it as I feel I was the victim of someone selling a car knowing it had issues leaving my wife and I with our 6 month old daughter in 30+ degree heat on the side of the motorway for 3 hours.

A suprise to you after you put the issue on a MR2 forum (I found this afterwards).

Basically I feel like you mugged me off and that pi$$es me off... so yer... karma... pity your not looking at a £1500 bill.

You told me via text that it was fixed for free via a toyota recall due to a seal on the gearbox being an issue?
I was also told that the mr2 gearbox was clunky at best and it was pretty normal. You seemed happy on the test drive.

I have sold more than 1 car on this forum and I have always been brutally honest, I think others will testify to that.

I wish I had has chance to see the car, I did drive all the way down to the other side of the country to sort this. After you last message I believed the issue was been resolved to your satisfaction.

Well, now that's all in the open, I hope you feel better, because I don't.

As above im sorry you have had an issue, I did everything I could with in reason to resolve this.

I never expected a open arms welcome from this place but to go from a backbox to this, well... heavy reading.

IWC, I saw it was looking shabby but didn't expect it to fall off!, it was on the list to sort out with in the month, it has a service and a new MAF, balancing with in the first few days ow ownership

Nelly, you are welcome to take this to PM although im not sure what else there is to say.

I've just about had it with this Forum. Sam quite rightly took time out from here having been treated like sh*t by a mouthy prominent poster who is 'one of the lads'. He returned and within a few days he's getting the same old crap, only this time from a Moderator.

If a Moderator can 'bully' a poster, no matter what the history is between them, then this place has sunk to new depths.

The Moderation team should hang their heads in shame if they allow this to carry on.

Sam, you got off lightly with a rusty back box. The thread holding my rear hanger pulled on mine.

I think the best solution is I just go away again, I just wanted to share an experience accept some friendly pee taking and perhaps get some constructive advice.
I didn't want to rake up 3+ year old history.

You win

Chill out chaps! Shit happens, its happened to us all and will continue to happen regardless of intent. I can't believe, given the amount of time and posts you've both put on here that there was true malice in any actions. Plus a test drive of a private vehicle and you handed over the cash = painful. But you should maybe have had it inspected properly?

(especially given Sam's long history of cars and how the only luck he ever has is bad)

Can you kiss and make up or at least avoid each other - failing that can week keep it to banter? Please laugh
