I've been quoted between £360 and £399 all in, for a replacement cambelt and water pump on my 2006 Saab 1.9TID 150bhp diesel.
Apparently its booked at 2 and a half hours?
Seem reasonable???
The car's on 70k so its due anytime now.
The £399 was at the main agent so I'll probably go there just to keep the FSSH.
All money I'd reather spend on the Coupe!

Power italia I think quote 468 pounds or there abouts for the Alfa 150 jtd.
Is pretty much the same engine. So quote sounds good.

Is worth noting that for that price Power Italia change not just the Cambelt and water pump but also the cambelt tensioner and idler.
They also change the aux belt and the tensioners for it.

make sure all tensioners, idlers are quoted and changed imo.

Thanks Bridges, I sort of assumed it did, but will check again to be sure.

Thats a fairly decent price from a dealer. I had a Saab 9-3 1.9 TiD (150) recently (sold it in April), the previous owner had all the belts / tensioners changed at 78K from a main dealer in 2011 with a receipt for £580.

Well, the timing belt (not cambelt it seems) has been changed along with water pump and tensioners at the old Saab Hereford garage. They are a Renault and Ssangyong dealer now and their customer service has definitely dropped off from when they where just a Saab dealer.
Sadly no noticeable difference to the way the Saab runs. blush
The garage called to say I had a broken coil and they need replacing as a pair? Also the rear pads where virtually down to the metal. Quoted £352 for the coils and £115 for the rear pads. rolleyes
I declined to let them go ahead (they did not have the coils in stock) and had the coil and pads replaced the following day at a local garage for £130!!!! laugh
The pads were in fact only half worn!!!! shocked The ex Saab sales attendant told me they were virtually down to the metal....

How does the Saab run, I assume there is an issue?

Generally fine, but I find it a tad rough compared to our VW TDi engine Golf?
The comment was just related to spending £400 on new timing belts and seeing no discernible difference to the way it went.
Often I really like the Saab, but then something plays up and my thoughts turn darker! Mine is the 150 bhp TiD Vector Sportswagon estate and I think it is a good looking car.
Its main fault is the ride on the 17 inch wheels.
Fine for motorway driving but too severe for the rough roads we have in the UK?
The dash quality is also nothing like the Germans...
