Drain holes for skirts? #1449479

I've just fitted the AutoDS skirts and I'm wondering if they'll trap water against the sill area, which obviously wouldn't be healthy.

Was thinking a small drain hole in the underside at each end might help (if it's an issue at all). Did the original Fiat LE skirts have drain holes by any chance?

I had the original Zender skirts on my old coupe but can't remember if they had drain holes either.

I'm pretty sure mine don't have holes, but I would say a 10mm hole at each end wouldn't be a bad idea wink
Yes, it would let water in as well as out but, it will let drying air in too smile

Think I'll do it, hate the thought of a load of water slopping around in there.

Horsing around's a serious business.

Does the shape of the skirts let water sit? You seal the top return flange to the sill, and the bottom is open.

Personally I'd give the sill a good clean and then a thick coat of paint. The sort you'd use on iron railings.

Yes, water could gather as the skirt slopes up slightly from the outside to inside edge, in places.

It's only against the underside of the sill near the middle at the edge of the door area so probably not a major issue but I think I'll drill a hole at each end anyway, just to be safe.

Are they OE? I've got some fiberglass LE items to fit and it doesn't look as if they could collect. Quite square on the bottom.

They're the AutoDS fibreglass ones.

Maybe the vertical sill slopes inwards slightly so the lower (horizontal) edge of the skirt ends up slanting up a bit.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that.

I have the Auto DS ones and I did drill them at each end before paint.
Everytime it's wet (after driving) I see water dripping from them. smile

Interesting, thanks.

Will give it another day or two for the adhesive to harden then get at them with the drill.
