And so the monetary value of a widget has just risen,
But not as much as the practical value of having one

Could you interface the diagnostics port to OBD2 and feed one of these head up displays ?? Only £50 or so for the display.

In theory, yes.

In practice, you'll need an OBDII host that can interface either with the widget's sanitised output, or directly with the ECU (with modifications for each of the engine variants).

The startrek code is open source; fill your boots. Sadly I don't have time.

Ollie - the water temp gauge and the smoke in the rear view mirror will do that wink

No need for any new fangled technology here.

How often do you look at the water temp? Every 5 mins or so? Quite a few threads on this board where people have missed it for a few miles...

I was thinking some form of liquid detection shield around the hose, attached to a ships fog horn laugh

How about a new CHOD, probably the best option and cheap!

My 14 year old original was in perfect condition when I removed it - anoying really as I spent £45 on a replacement, spent a couple of hours doing it and cut it off!

Ah well - nice to have peace of mind! smile
