Hey DanDan - I remember it well! Glad you've stuck with them, great cars. Great forum and people too, although I'm not on here much these days. I hovered around here about 12 years ago when I made my mind up to get one. Got it about six months later, before flogging it and buying a Plus in 05. Had that for three years before deciding to scratch the Cerbera itch. I've still got it - don't believe the hype! Natural progression for a Coop owner

I've had loads of cars over the years good bad & indifferent. The wife has always had a new car every three years, so I kind of went for bangers, well good bangers I've always fancied something sporty, fast & different. When a Coop came up for sale in my area I went for a look & was hooked. I was a lurker on here for some time before I even seen a Coop in the flesh. My dream car has always been an Aston Martin, realistically this was never going to happen even though if I pulled all the money stops out, I could not justify anything like that to my family. To be honest bang for buck the Coop was a bargain. The down side there is no specialist in my area so the forum is a must, a wealth of information. I got hooked on the banter early on & became a victim of my own curious nature & was practically living my life on here. Great forum & all that, but I've taken a step back recently. My wife pointed out the fact I was spending more time on here than with her, this was true.To be honest when I first joined there did seem to be a bit more craic around. This is still a friendly forum where things can sorted out one way or another be it mechanical, emotional or other.
I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

What made me join??
Had a 20v NA from new when they first came out (P-Reg) in broom yellow with black leather, aircon etc, and loved it. I kept it for 5 years and in hindsight it was one of the most reliable cars I have ever had. Only thing that went wrong with it was it chucked its aux belt and survived. Was new enough to be checked over and fixed under warrantee, and turned out to be an idler with no grease in the bearing.
Had many Italian cars before and after that, and currently own 9 Alfa Romeos of the same era.
I had always fancied a 20VT, but bought my current one to transplant the engine, brakes etc into an Alfa 155. The Coupe has proved to be in such good nick that I refuse to rip its heart and kidneys out.
So why I joined, seemed natural as the advent of good forums for banter and technical advice has been a major plus for the rare, interesting, and classic car market. FCC seems to be one of the top ones for this. I am also on several others for Alfas and the 2 Freelanders me and Mrs Wombat own, and not all are from the same mould as FCC.

I was dropping the boys off at school and I caught a glimpse of a blue coup passing by. My initial and instinctive emotion was "Phhwwooooaaaarrrr! I went home and Googled "Fiat sports cars" but all I could find was Barchetta and that wasn't it. Later I went down the pub and asked the boys what they thought I had seen. No ideas forthcoming, so I forgot about it. Months later I was looking for classic cars on eBay and I clicked on "Fiat" and there they were......all ridiculously cheap. Why? Now I have two and know the answer to that one! Why I joined the FCCUK? Too much valuable help and info to ignore. Also johnnybravoturbo told me to!

I remember as a boy cycling through a small village and thinking wow...look at that!
Then I saw the rear end and thought wtf is that!
Was only around 5 years ago someone on the punto forum bought one and I liked it.
I looked at them on and off since. This year I spent months looking for my perfect E39 5 series but no joy. I knew coupes were cheap so I looked at getting one as a temporary run about.
I knew of the forum but never visited. finally joined the forum and within 30mins I was sold....it was a coupe off the forum or none at all. Went from looking at £700 coupes to spending over 3 times that on Olekks Porto 20vt.
I have spent the time since June questioning myself.....why didn't I buy one years ago!
Never going to be a cheap car to keep on the road, especially doing higher than average mileage.
As an all rounder there just isn't a replacement,
