What's the best clutch for 400bhp and similar torque. Do I have to go paddle or is there a alternative that's goin to last a few years

I run a Helix Organic with way over 400bhp and close to 400 lb-ft

It has a heavy pedal action, but its a doddle to drive in traffic compared with a paddle

I get around 25,000 miles out of a friction plate and 50,000 miles out of a cover plate

That's not bad considering the abuse it gets at well over 400.

I bought my Helix from MardiGras too - not cheap, but the quality is as good as it gets

I can't bring myself to pay over £500 for an organic clutch crazy

After 3 years, some serious 400 lbsft abuse (plus several rolling burnouts up Bath's crazy steep hills!) I finally broke my CG Motorsport 6-paddle clutch. Now I have another one sat in the box waiting for me to get round to fitting it. £300 is still a fair amount of money, but far less painful than £500-odd!

Isn't the cg clutch a paddle though. I drive my car alot around town so I want the most drivable clutch

Yeah my one is. Most of the time it's great; soft peddle feel, not much harder to drive than a normal clutch, but it can be a pain if you spend a lot of time in stop/start traffic. The same thing that makes paddle clutches great for racing also makes it a pain in traffic jams; as the clutch heats up it bites harder. CG do a dual friction kit, which makes it an intermediate between organic and cerametallic paddle. I've no idea how much tourque it can handle though.

I have a cg fast road clutch before the cg paddle one I have now and it was nice but can't see it holding anything past the 350 torque mark.

I just got a new clutch from joe @ fcss which is half organic and half paddle and drives like a standard clutch.

Yeah it's what you need with a bit of torque. Tho mine has started to judder a bit the last thousand miles. Not as nice as new.. I suppose my worn engine mounts may have something to do with it. smile

I can supply the paddles but for drivability the organic is preffered.

Eddie at A E car can supply the organics that me and Barbz use.
