As is the norm here in France that once a person reaches 50 years old they get sent a stool test kit .

In order to see if there is any blood in the stools.

I managed to dodge it for 5 years but eventually gave in after recieving a letter telling me to go to my GP and get tested.
So i gave in and carried out the comical test myself.
How one is supposed to catch the poo in mid flo on a flimsey paper towel/bag thing streched across the pan i have no idea.

And i had to do 3 seperate tests. Each one being spread onto a paper strip and sealed.

Eventually it got done and sent off to the laboratory.

Two days later i recieve a letter confirming that they had found some blood and duly informed my GP,so i had to make an appointment to go see him.

Next morning i was at the surgery and he was explaining the procedure etc.

He then phoned the specialist to make an apointment.

Three days later i am in the hospital and being explained to by the surgeon how it may go etc.
I told him i may have a pile or two.

He then phoned his Secatary to make an appointment for a visit to the Anaesthetist and a date for Colonoscopy.

Within a week its all done.

Yesterday i arrived at the hospital at midday was shown to my own room, had the little procedure at 2.30,afterwards visited by the surgeon with the good news and was out by 5.30pm after a cake and coffee.

All in all a very positive expierience.

I had to prepare for the procedure the night and morning before by having to take 2 large purging drinks then lots of water. The main thing was to be within 5 paces of the loo!
In the eleven years i have lived here i have had 3 small operations now and a few emergency treatments.

Very very happy with the service and care i have recieved.

I pay a fair bit in heatlh charges, but its a great service really.

I don't think I've ever read a review of an invasive anal procedure before. Touché

Just the same here Joe.

We get sent the whodunnit kits every 2 years but all said and "done" it's a lot easier "job" than the poor guy/girl that has to unseal the evidence on a regular basis and put up with the cack-handed efforts of everyman and his dog aiming in the right direction laugh

Did you watch the -scopy bit on the monitor?
