Another Coupe is lost...

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge

In the flesh, this damage is amazing - a large part of the passenger door is INSIDE the car - its been pushed in past the seal. The B pillar is several inches inboard of where it should be and the weld has been broken where the b pillar meets the sill. The quarter panel is torn and the roof severely kinked. To add insult to injury, after the Merc Sprinter van had t-boned the Coupe, it spun into a high kerb, which took out the rear offside wheel (snapped the disc clean off - see photo) and then reversed over a set of traffic lights, which finished off the rear end too.

Thankfully, and most importantly, the driver and his young son walked away unharmed.

This was a particularly good Coupe - zero rust anywhere and just 70,000 miles. Its been coming to Motormech for years, so its sad to see such a well looked after car die this way. However, its good to see that despite being a 15+ year old design, it can still protect its occupants in a fairly serious shunt

That must have been a bad one. Probably 40mph or so.

What's going on! Why have we become target practice!?!?!

Glad the occupies got out safe!

Numbers are depleting rapidly!

Wow! To snap the breaking surface off a disc and tear structural welds yet walk away... Big stuff, heavy impact. So pleased driver and son were ok, adds confidence when my 3 join me for a Saturday blast!
On the plus side, a good engine up for re sale!

Ditto the above and at least they are safe especially with a little 'un involved. Gives me further faith as my lads regularly ride in mine.....

Sorry to see that but glad the occupants were unscathed! Nice to see the Coupe holds its own well in an accident though.

Oh no frown

Safety first as always and although bearing a few aches everyone inside is ok.

This is an ace card to play when making a case for coupe purchase evil
