Photos of the car would help and more info about the fsh will give more background on what jobs have been done .

Father in law you say. Taking care of his pride and joy? Surely the car should be part of the package? That said, I would say that being a 16 year old coupe should stay in the family. My guess however would certainly be no less than 4k. As nismo says post some pics to see what we're looking at. However sounds a rare find in these days.

depending on condition, a standard coup with that mileage has got to be worth 2500-3000 upwards

I'm with Rudidudi. I also reckon it's a less common colour that looks quite smart. However it is still 16 years old so condition is going to be important. If it's been sat outside its whole life it may have the same rust affliction that a 100k car would see.

I think if you hold out for the right buyer, they'll likely be an enthusiast who will be wanting to pay the best price. Stick it ebay you run the risk of messers bidding and not turning up.

If it's had the important parts done, cambelt, regular oil and it's been in a garage so little rust on it then I'd say the above is on the low side. Condition is key, no dings, scrapes or rust and all the important stuff looked after so it's a drive away and basically forget about for 3 years then it's a seller's market as there won't be another crop up!
I live in Oakworth and I've never ever seen it about! Has it been sat up for a while??

Completely agree with above and ReetLadThee said no less than 4k. We are told FSH and 24,000 miles. FSH includes at least annual oil changes and 5 yearly cam belts, irrespective of mileage.

So if all that's true and the car is sound underneath and body wise, even 4k is low.

Come on guys, if a gem like this isn't worth 4k plus, what hope for our Coupés. I'll be looking for 4k plus for mine and they've done 81,000 and 99,000 miles respectively!

I have a low mileage coupe. 40,000 miles on a S reg.

The price of the car will be determined by the market. Price it at 4K or more if the general condition of the car is good.

Mine obviously stood for a fair amount of time. Meaning that many components underneath the car needed replacing due to excessive surface rust. Most of the suspension has been changed. The engine required a cam belt, the aux belts, the clutch needed changing as did many other smaller parts.

I paid £2750.00 for mine, it's a more desirable Limited Edition Model. I have since spent a further £3K+ and I am not done yet!

Mine had a great service history file with it too. This will be needed if you want to ask top dollar!

People will spend good money on the car if it is in a general good condition. However, if there are rust issues, that, there will be with a low mileage car like yours (it's been stood) then to make the car safe and reliable, the new owner will need to spend more (most likely). Therefore, whilst the mileage is low, the car is not necessarily desirable.

It depends on what the new owner wants. I doubt that interested parties will simply want to drive the car daily. Therefore, so long as the car has a MOT and tax they will be happy. The new owner is more likely to be person wanting to restore and keep. These type of buyers tend to look at the car in more detail and will soon spot the issues that affect their wallet when discussing price.

Be prepared to barter! Whatever price you decide.

Of course the car may well have been maintained by a specialist, stored correctly and protected from the elements and kept in top condition all this time. If this is the case, be asking for £4-5K

Thanks Guys. The car has been stored/garaged most of its life. I'll get some photos and more detail of the FSH for you. The car is in Riddlesden, nr, Keighley if any one wants to take a look.

Please do not turn this into a for sale thread or it will be removed as it is against the forum rules.

You had not been able to see all of the thread previously Paul.

When someone starts talking of putting up the full service history and inviting people to look at a car it is getting pretty close.

I paid £4500 for a 1999 20VT Plus with full history and 24,500 miles

If this car is genuinely clean everywhere, its probably worth around £3.5k - £4.0k in the current market.

Might be worth waiting until Spring, when prices should firm up a little.

Somewhat aggressive response IMO.

I think that the use of the word "please" means that most people would read this post as a polite request not requiring the response "back off !!"

Possibly ... was feeling a bit grumpy yesterday and I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

Also think it was a reaction to the 'over-moderation' that surfaces now and again.

Let's leave it at that. rolleyes
