I know that this has been discused numores times, but only on Turbo cars.

I'm currently in dilema as I'm using 2 cars, 1 Renault MEgane 1.6 16V for 1000km/per month for job which I have to service, pay for insurance, and consumes about 7L/100km (gasoline). Insurance 28€/month.

Im only using coupe 8 months/year and pay about 55€/month insurance. But the Coupe consumes 10,5L/100km.

Because we had very little snow here....(for about 2 weeks in the whole winter).

I'm considering if I should put LPG on the Coupe and lose the 1. car.

And use LPG to go to work, and use Gasoline for better performance smile

What do you think guys? The conversion costs about 1200€.
For the Megane I would probably get 500€.
Petrol price here is 1,46€/L
Gas 0.789€/L

Also has LPG conversion ever been done on 20V non-turbo?

Conversion to LPG in Serbia for your car is 850e.Its not a problem to drive it on lpg.I have also 20vt converted to lpg and it is working without problems. So i think you want have any problems driving your car on lpg if everything is done properly.

Doesn't the 20V have plastic inlet manifold or is it the VIS? Either way, plastic inlet manifold is not good for LPG conversion.

Plastic inlet manifold does not change anything. We have here thousands of cars converted to LPG with plastic inlet manifold. Also so many 2.0 20v VIS engines.

Yes, it does change as LPG doesn’t ignite as readily as petrol and should anything go wrong with the ignition system it can result in inlet plumbing full of a gas-air mixture that’s just waiting to explode. It is common knowledge that it is not advice to install LPG to cars with plastic inlet manifolds. But hey, if someone is determied to save some money he will install anything for that matter. That said, Multipoint Sequential Gas Injection Systems might be the solution thou personally I wouldn't take the risk and I wouldn't do it.

I have taken the risk and I would definitely do it again. 200,000 happy LPG miles, about £12,000 saved, no problems except valve seat erosion, but by the time that it was getting critical the car had done 225,000 miles and a replacement head would have been about £100.

On the older cars I had done, they used single point injection and a blow off valve was installed to cover that. I didn't get any explosions that I can remember.

If I did another I'd go multipoint - the fuel consumption on single point wasn't great.

With the VIS system I guess there's the aluminium casting that the doughnuts attach to, so you could drill / tap the injector on there possibly?

I haven't heard of any NA LPG conversions but there are plenty of Alfa TwinSpark conversions - the engine's very similar to the vis- just one less cylinder.

that happened with the old plant, now the ECU
are quite a lot better and the sequential injiection
avoid any kind of risk of explosion, not only ,it's common
an increased performance with lpg
