Hi all I've been looking at some of the turbo rebuild kits available for the standard turbo with the race 360 bearing and various other bits that come with it, also a staggered seal sold separately the seal is sold as a rear one .
Is there only 1 for the turbo ?
Has anyone done this conversion before?
Also does the shaft need to be balanced again + what problems will I face.
I fancy a sports cat or a de cat after the refurb.
Looks easy enough on you tube to do the conversion.
Also is there a compresser wheel upgrade available? Is that what is ment by a hybrid turbo.
Any thoughts welcome
The kit and seal is under £70.00.
Ta smile

There are plenty of options to upgrade the compressor wheel and a couple for the turbine. Have a look in the tuning guide for the link to the hybrid turbo thread.

I've never rebuilt a turbo so can't help you there but I've read it's important to be sure it's balanced correctly after the build. No idea how to do that though!

Yeah seen this, spoke to a company in Blackpool today who can put staggered seals, 62 trim and 360 bearing + a bigger housing for a maximum of £320 if the shaft needs attention cheaper if not.
Good for future upgrades + Seals etc .
This is the company that sells the parts to diy aswell
My under £70 quote was without compresser wheel and housing.
What bhp could i expect from this also would it need mapping with the g tec 1 all ready installed. smile

Im currently running a 62trim, 360 bearing, with supporting mods, and at 1.3bar it made 303bhp and 289 torque

The spool is so quick and on a dv36, sounds great

Not sure if anyone has tried it but kinugawa turbo sell the 60mm GTX comprssor wheel for around £80 which should fit, it should make more power than the usual compressor wheels used in a hybrid
