I have a min / max and average, and the average is (min + max) / 2. So for eg Min - Ave - Max
60 - 80 - 100 I then want to reduce the average by 5%, but hold the maximum, thus by only changing the minimum. Thus what is the formula needed to work this out? Its in Excel if that helps, I think my brain is fried, as I am sure its simple!! Thanks y'all

Yes, but my average is a live cell and its only my min and max I have as numbers, the ave is a calculation, so I am thinking there must be a way to state a formula based on the minimum. For e.g. Min + Max / 2 = Ave
Thus Ave - 5% = min / max + min x 2^max / banana Or am I trying to hard and should just take the easy route above, which to be fair is what I had?!

New Avg = Old Avg * (1 - 5%) and New Min = Max - (Max - New Avg) * 2 or New Min = New Avg - (Max - New Avg) and both of these can be expressed alternately as New Min = 2 * Old Avg * (1 - 5%) - Max Not sure where the banana fits in?
