thanks for input Ian!
I tried the MTEC's this year, with Performance Friction 08 pads (since being a long-time user of Carbotech XP8 + 3Gdisc's).
Just one long heavy trackday, but the disc's seem ok and the pads were on par - if not slightly better - than the XP8's. The big difference were the Massive Sqeel... Even on track!! Never got that with the Carbotech's. I suppose you could call it racey.. smile

No worries smile

The PF 08 pads are a step up from the XP8 and more like our XP10/XP12 in terms of bite and performance, its actually good to hear you didnt notice a huge difference over the XP8 and the PF08, just goes to show how versatile those are laugh

Ian

Hi guys. Hope you're all well.

Thread resurrection!

I too have experienced the XP8/MTec combo issue. The MTec discs are completely shot within a year and probably around 8k miles. Proving they're not man enough to stand up to the XP8s.

I've had a chat to Ian in regards to which discs to replace the MTecs with and he was very helpful by suggesting Brembo/Brembo HCs. I've found these these, will they suffice? And these are they the same?
I can't find the Brembo HC's though. Anybody know where to get them from?

I was just after a bit more info from people out there that have had this issue. Which discs have you successfully run XP8s with? I want to get this right - I can't afford to be replacing discs every year! smile

Thanks!

I've had 3G disc's with my XP8, worked very well. But they seem hard to get nowadays?

Thank Per. Did the pads wear out before the discs??

I don't know what you guys are worried about I've had carbotech on for a year and a half and I've have almost NO WEAR on my discs.

Mind you I've only covered 180 miles crazy

Yes, they eat discs. I found from the track day use mine gets, that the Mtec discs warp pretty much immediately even if you try to bed them in first. BUT, I've then had the discs skimmed, and they are good and stand up to plenty of abuse after?

I'm not messing around getting discs skimmed. I want a set of discs and pads that stop well and don't cause me any issues.

I was just saying that's what I've had done, and do exactly that, on track, so on road, will be no issues.

I use Carbon Lorraine pads for my track day Coupe, they destroyed MTEC discs after one day. They ended up with mutiple cracks in them. I use standard Pagid discs now, they are much better lasting.
