I've done it and without any hoist or trolley to get it under the car, and i'll be doing it all again soon laugh

swin you be the guy to write up a good guide for the home mechanic

another note to self is, dont do a 12hour night shift, doze a hour on sofa then put a 20vt engine in. completely zombified now

though i am happy that my pu engine mount, as prev done on here, looked ok fitted

Yeah i have done the under car route before. Not easy. Got a hoist 2nd time and was much better..

Yup, did that myself last year. I propped the car up on industry standard pine logs and used a couple of flattened carboard boxes under each engine to slide them over the driveway. Dropped engine/gearbox/subframe in one. The rest was just brute force and ignorance. Won't be doing it again.

the worst bit is trailing the engine and box to the car. i kinda rocked the lot towards the car.

Done Alfa V6s in and out of a 155 from underneath on my own. Wasn't too bad.

Front of the car up very high on X-large axle stands. Engine wheeled underneath on a transmission jack (just as a stable low platform on wheels (also used a furniture dolly in the past, sump and edge of bellhousing sat nicely in that), then hoist to lift it all into place.
